[Knoxville] Summer Cruise In !!
Hey Everyone,
Couple of questions for you. Is there anyplace here in Knoxville where there is a cruise in? I know that the old Kmart on Clinton Hwy used to have some cars on Saturday nights. Is that still going on? Reason I ask is this:
I talked to the Mall Manager today about hosting a cruise in here at Knoxville Center and he appoved it. There is plenty of room (the old Carolina Pottery parking lot) and security. I will sell Chick-fil-A and will host the occasional band or DJ.
So, what do you think? Friday nights? Give me some feedback!

Will have to have more feedback, but Friday nights seem to be owned by the Foothills Mall in Maryville. I don't know the status of the one at the old KMart. It may be time to try to start something on that side of town....

It doesn't matter to me what day, as long as we can get some good stuff. Since I'm working so much, this is the only way to enjoy one of my hobbies.

Friday night is Maryville, however a West Knox get together could work too. I've been to the one at I-75 on Saturday and was not impressed. I didn't know that Kmart was doing it again.

A gentleman in the car body repair business bought the old K-Mart building and told all the car clubs they were more than welcome to use the lot for the Cruise-ins again. I don't think everyone realizes it yet, but Saturday's turn out was a good one.

Alrightttttttt, someone finally realizes the value of the walk in crowd at one of these events. I'll help spread the word.

The cruise-ins are a weekly event. Maryville has one on Friday nights.
I believe Morristown has one too but haven't been to it. The one in Knoxville is Saturday evening on Clinton Hwy on the right just before you get to the Clinton Hwy/Merchant Rd intersection.

I was there last weekend and there was a very large crowd.
I saw 10 or 11 Vettes there including a Split Window Coupe and a few C5's and C4's.
There is also one on Friday nights in the big Lots parking lot in Jefferson City. (also 11-e)
This one is not as big and features mostly older cars.
I drive my Vette to the one in morristown and my 57 ford to the one in Jefferson City.

That's the one at the old K-mart building on Clinton highway. It's near Merchant's road. Easy to find from OR, go over to clinton highway on Bethal Valley (past Bull run steam plant), turn right onto Clinton highway and go towards Knoxville. Merchant's road crosses clinton highway and the K mart is abut one city block past that intersection (on your left). If you get to Reeder Chevrolet, you've gone too far.

I believe the old Kmart building is now occupied by Joe Neubert Collision Repair....and there were quite a few cars there last weekend.
