What a way to start the New Year :mad . I brought my wife some lunch up at the Mall and some no good SOB left me a real nice present :mad :mad . Some inconsiderate Jerk hit my driver side right on the GS Flare. It spider cracked the fiberglass on the fender from the door to just past the middle of the flare,. :mad :mad busted the flare and the inner liner of the wheel well. It just never figures does it, I parked far away from everyone and this jerk who hit and ran wasn't even human enough to leave a note :mad or wait till I came out. Sort of glad he didn't wait around because I might have been typing this from a more secure location.
So if anyone knows of a great body shop please let me know. I do know that USAA has a direct repair with RK but I am not sure how they are with the Vettes.
Also if the GS goes in soon then the Dyno and Hooters looks like will be a bust for the GS but not the Impala. Sorry for the rant but I feel better now. Thanks for any suggestions and have a great New Year.
Leo
Re: GS got hit any good body shops? (96GrandSport)
I have had enough door dings from those type of @#$%&*^!!!!!
I know I would be :U
I have put some of these on cars before under the wiper like a ticket.
Love watching/listening to them read it cause they have no idea where it came from.
At least USAA has good claims service :)
I am sure some one from the Vette club over there should be able to direct you.
Tim's Custom Painting & Body Works here in York County. Actually about 3-4 miles right off the first J. Clyde Blvd. exit in NN.
Tim has had a few vettes himself that he repaired. I have had him do some touchup work on my vette. And Tim even repaired and painted John Phillips 96 GS. Perfect Job on all of the jobs I have seen. Very good price too!
He takes care of vettes, because he is a vette owner himself.
It wouldn't hurt to give him a call and stop by.

Art Walker in Virginia Beach did my paint work. I don't know about their body work but if they put the same amount of effort into their body work as they do their paint jobs you will get a great job done. I would check out all of them though and try to see if you can look at some examples of their work before committing to any of them. I have heard good things about Tim's also.
I tell you I can not stand those inconsiderate jerks who don't have the guts to stand up and say they screwed up and try to make things right! :mad
Which mall did it happen at?
Some Malls have those cameras in the parking lots, and if they do, maybe something was caught on tape. I bet your insurance company would be interested in seeing the video, if there is one.
You wife is security right, she would no! (Just a thought, if you haven't already thought about it)
Ed,
The sad part of it all is it happened while she was at work in Lynnhaven Mall. She had to call another security officer to do the incident report and then I had to call the police to file the hit and run. The mall doesn't have security camera's under the parking deck. I know it sucks and gets me even more pissed as time goes on. I'm going to call Tim's in the morning after I call USAA and start the claims process. Boy I sure would love to catch the Jerk that did it, the police officer who was a motor head also asked me if I would prosecute if they caught the person. I said just give me five minutes in a little room and we wouldn't have to waste time for a trial, he laughed and said he knows how I felt. He has a 72 Nova with a 502 and a ground up restoration. He felt my pain to say the least. Thanks for the information from everyone. :seeya
Re: GS got hit any good body shops? (96GrandSport)
Leo, I had a very similar incident happen a couple weeks back..rt frt quarter panel and door. I would highly recomend European Bodywerks in Chesapeake. They fixed my car and I am VERY pleased. I am **** about my car and I even told the guy if it isn't perfect keep the car until it is...My car is factory red which has pearl in it, multi step paint...They did a fantastic job. They have a guy who custom paints and he did my car, he does all the vettes and Mercedes, lexus etc..The phone # is 558-7881 Larry is the owner...Also Eurofinish does quality work and they are at the beach..491-2310. The owner can be a little difficult although the finished product is good.. BTW: Stay away from RK....
Re: GS got hit any good body shops? (Mr turbo rotary)
Thanks for the good advice. I called USAA today and have an appointment with the adjuster on Friday at 0830 and from there I head out to talk with European Body works. I talked to them on the phone and they seemed like good people. I talked to a few other shops like the direct repair and they informed me that they didn't have a lot of experience with fiberglass repair to Corvette's. I am glad I filed a police report, USAA is waving the deductable because it was a hit and run. Now RECON time to find the :cuss jerks :mad .
It looks like Hooters for the GS and the Dyno days are out it will probably be over two weeks or so before I get the car back. I'll have the real luxury ride ready for the trip to Hooters and help out at the Dyno day. :seeya
Re: GS got hit any good body shops? (96GrandSport)
96GrandSport, I would suggest you contact Craddock Auto Service in Portsmouth. Owned by Cecil Proffit. He is the one who puts the "Custom"car show on every year and has a great reputation in the industry. He has been doing custom work for years and is a real nice guy.
He is a personal friend and if I can be of any help to you for your repair please let me know.
Re: GS got hit any good body shops? (Rick Williams)
Thanks Rick. I dropped the car off at European Bodywerks and left it in the care of Larry. I looked at a couple of the cars he was working on out there and they all showed great craftsmanship. I'll keep Craddocks in mind if I need another shop. Thanks again.
