Autoweek mentioned taking Foxcroft Rd north from Rt 50 in Middleburg was one of VA's "great driving roads". They also mentioned Skyline as a slow and scenic road.
Anyway, anyone driven Foxcroft? Is it cool? I'll probably take a run out there and check it out one of these days as it's not too far. But was just wondering.
Ehh, drove up it yesterday. It seems like it would be fun if it were closed. Otherwise it's just a very narrow road with blind curves in horse country. Most of the exhilaration comes from not knowing if some yuppie in an SUV will come flying around the next curve halfway on your side of the road...

I understood what you meant...I guess they figure if they pay more personal property tax for their SUV, they own more of the road and want to drive on it regardless of who may be around.
I assume we're talking about Foxcroft School Rd. I used to ride my motorcycle on that road to work most every day. It's an interesting/fun road but even on a bike it's narrow when you consider what is likely coming at you over the next hill or around the next bend. There is also typically a lot of slow moving vehicles (farm vehicles and older folks usually).
If you do go check it out note that there is a ~3 mile long striaght section as you approach St. Louis Rd. where the speed limit is like 30 MPH (I think the rest is 35 MPH). There is almost always a police office sitting by one of the trees running radar.
If Autoweek picked this as one of the "great driving roads" they are seriously deprived.
