I just took a job in Surfside/Myrtle Beach area and am getting ready to leave the cold Illinois winters behind me. I intend to buy a house after I sell the one in Illinois. Does anyone have something nearby for rent.I can stay at the resort for about a month until I have to start paying for it,but would like to move the wife down (and my Vette and motorcycle) as soon as possible. It wouldn't be the end of the world to have to stay in a condo...anyone know of a reasonable storge area for the toys? About the only downfall I can see is the traffic sucks on HGY. 17 pretty bad. I will be working at the Ellington Resort in Murrels Inlet and would like to keep commute to 45mins-1hr. at the most. Oh yea any car clubs around there...need a few new good friends?
Boss man here in Illinois is trying hard to keep me here but I hope to be down there by April 8th. I live a pretty quiet life these days. Any suggestions on areas that may be a bit rural but within a 30 minuite drive of Murrells Inlet. I really like living off the beaten path a little as I like the lower crime and price that is often associated with that kind of enviroment. Any suggestions would be awesome. Also are Conway and Georgetown bad places to live and in that period of driving time? Like I said would like to rent a small place for now. Just the wife ,me and a couple of well behaved basset hounds!
You may want to try looking in the Litchfield Beach or Pawleys Island areas. Both are just a little ways south of Murrells Inlet. Litchfield is about 8 miles south of Murrells Inlet and Pawleys is about 15 miles south. Both would make for an easy commute. I'm not a big fan of the Conway area personally. I've passed through Georgetown a few times. I guess it's a nice area but I can't get past the horrible smell coming from the huge International Paper plant.
Welcome to the area. You'll have no problems finding fellow car enthusiasts. Best place to start would be the Corvettes at the Beach show at Broadway in early June.
