Default Skyway,Dragon,Hellbender run anyone interested

Hey guys spring is here and the mountains are calling...
I am planning a Skyway,Dragon,Hellbender run sometime in May,
time and dates open. Starting point will be in Tellico Plains, the beginning of the Skyway, 50 miles of very cool roads. Then to the Dragon via Hwy 129, this road is also very cool, scenic and not much traffic. After running the Dragon we will hit Hwy 28 (The Hell Bender) to Robbinsville, NC, and back across the Skyway to end up in Tellico again. About 200 miles of some of the best twisties in the US IMO. The more the merrier, anyone interested????

UPDATE......
Its official the Skyway,Dragon,Hellbender run date will be Wed May 27, 2009
Meet time 9AM Place CVS drug store parking lot opp Hardees Resturant on hwy 68 Tellico Plains

This is something I've been wanting to do since I moved to Chattanooga last November from Southern California. I have Sun, Tue, and Wed's off. If it's done on my day off I'm def down for a long day of driving the best roads the South East has to offer.

OK Guys

Lets try and pick a date, this run will take most of the day, with breaks and rest stops. If you are interested in joining us let us know what day
or days you can make it. This is just a fun run so there is NO minimum
number needed, 2 or more

Cool, It's only 1.5 hour drive to the starting/ending point. I was hoping it wasn't going to be a 3 hour drive to that point, lol. I def hope this happens on my day off.

Ok so far we have 2 votes for A Sunday…. That would be May 3, 10, 17, 24 or 31
and
We have 3 votes for A Wednesday… That would be May 6, 13, 20 or 27

FWIW weekend traffic is much heavier then during the week.

I am going to suggest that you coordinate this with the Vettes in the Valley weekend that runs May 22-24 in Maggie Valley NC. It just seems like a way to pull more vettes for both events. Plus I will be there anyway that weekend.

Don't know what route is planned, I know everyone gets excited about the Gap however I think a much better ride from Tellico would be 68 south which will turn into 60 in GA. 60 has serious hairpins, switchbacks, elevation changes & its about a 35 to 40 mile run to where it connects with 19, then left to 19/129 then back north. Its the Blood mountain run. Have done it on bikes & the Vette & its much more enjoyable than the Gap & no cops.

A run across the Cherohala is always a good ride.

True the Dragon is old hat to us locals and it is only 22 miles of this route (11 miles twice) but its worth a look especially for those coming from afar..... and 10-4 on Hwy 68 that's were I live
