Fellow Forum Brothers and Sisters Please proceed with caution at the Raleigh stereo installation site. I purchased aprox. $2K worth of stereo equipment here and let myself get talked into letting them do the install. As Arnie said "Big Mistake"! I got the car back with a system message at the volt display and no interior lights, and no a/c,heat,defrost,fan, or vent operation. My dash was misaligned and the passenger seat was busted at one of the seams in the seat bottom part and the car alarm would not go off unless you hit the car with your fist. They said that was the normal sensitivity setting. The car also had 3/4 tank of gas and I picked it up with less than 1/2 tank. The avg. mpg usually shows 19.0-20.0 mpg when I drive it, but when I picked it up it showed 14.0 mpg for the average. This would indicate with the difference in the gas tank level and the avg. that they not only screwed up the install but they drove the heck out of my car while it was in their possesion. I followed up on this by contacting their liability ins. carrier which was Travelers at the time and negotiated an immediate settlement. They paid for me to take it to Carwell automotive in Clayton,NC where it took these guys 3 weeks of troubleshooting to figure out how to get everything to work properly as it had before C. City screwed it up. I've put aprx. 500 miles on the car since I got it back and had to have something else worked on it in the electrical system that cost over $300 that came out of my pocket since I wouldn't have any proof that there was any connection to their incompetence. You can bet I'll steer clear of C.City in the future. Some of you might consider this wailing but I consider it setting the record straight and trying to give some friendly advice at the same time to where nobody else has to endure what I did. Best of Luck to you guys. TWELL :smash: :smash: :smash: :smash: :smash: :smash:
That is just sick. It would certainly **** me off especially with a car with low mileage as yours. Now I would never think about going to Circuit City to have anything done to my car. However the only people I trust is me and fellow Corvette enthusiasts...and maybe my dealer.
I guess since you have no proof against this act I would just mention is to the better business burea (bbb.org).
Kind of makes me want to have the video camera or just the regular camera always in the car.
Any time I have to leave the car for repairs or something I always reset the trip odometer and right down the mileage. Not saying I'm pararnoid but one time with a different care the repair shop put over 150 miles on it and all they were suppose to do was tires and an alignment. That is one long road test. Good luck with your car.
I had some runnings myself in with the Raleigh shop on Glennwood Avenue. They might know how to put a stereo in, but a majority of them are complete morons.
Hey Y2K, did you let them do anything to your Z06? If so did they screw anything up? The guys at Carwell in Clayton found wires just wrapped with electrical tape as oppossed to the proper and normal connectors they should have used. They also bypassed the wiring to my electronic climate control to get the mast of the antennae to go up, only thing is once it was up it stayed up even after the stereo was turned off. They completely missed the wiring of the interior lights, because they were inoperable. All of this was suppossedly supervised by their shop manager Chris McCullen, who later called me to ask what my problem was after I'd called the store manager and their Insurance carrier. Needless to say I guess he got his Ar$e in a sling when they found out what MIKE and Jeff at Carwell Automotive found and reported to the insurance company. Of course the $ 814.02 bill didn't help his case much with his boss. I'm not saying their products over there are bad but their service is about like **** on a bore hog, and you know what they say about that. You guys out there please be careful with who you let examine and service your beautiful Vettes, because it's kinda like your wife and that whole Gynecologist thing if you know what I mean. Cheers! :smash: :) TWELL
OTS i saw this topic and I rembered when this happen to me
I brought my corvette to a chevy dealer in town to fix my a/c problem, when i got my car back I found out they put 50 miles on it. they said it was for testing..... :mad :mad :mad :mad I nerver heard of a road test for an A?c problem.
