Moving to jacksonville, fl - help
Good evening everyone, I'm relocating to Jacksonville and am not familiar with the area. I'm looking for nice subdivisions to rent in. Mid to upscale. I've heard that Jax Beach, St. Aug, Orange Park and Ponte Vedra are all nice areas. I'd like to be within 30 minutes driving distance of Mayport Navy base.
Thanks.
Thanks.

30 minutes is NOT OP, nor St.Aug. Ponte Vedra is expensive but within your 30 minutes. Jax Beach is close to the base. Stay East or North of Jax. Don't put a bridge between you and your work location if you can.

St Aug is going to be an hour, easy. Maybe more depending on where in St. Aug. OP will be at least that. It looks closer on a map but the traffic and frequent accidents make up for that.
I drive from St Augustine Rd and 95 (south Jacksonvlle) to my office off Alta Drive / 9A and that's about 30 minutes, give or take. Getting off 9A at Monument Rd to go to Mayport would probably be about the same.
Yulee will be well over 30 minutes.
Traffic here isn't as bad as other places but during the morning and afternoon rush hour periods it can get heavy. Nothing crazy like LA or NY or Atlanta but enough to add several minutes to a commute. If you can get your hours to be either early or late that would open up more places in your 30 minute window. Working 8 to 5 limits your area if you want to stay under 30 minutes.
Jacksonville Beach, Neptune Beach, Atlantic Beach areas would be closer to the base. As mentioned previously, Ponte Vedra Beach is close too but can get pricey.

St Aug. is outside of 30 min as well as Yulee. But if your looking at being @ the base or onboard the ship for quarters @ 07:00 traffic wont be too bad... Many years ago I lived in the Baymeadows/Southside Blvd area while stationed at Mayport (USS Philippine Sea CG-58) and it was nice. Maybe somebody can still verify that. That will put you close to enough things and be about 30 min out...
