My wife & i plan on taking some sort of vacation toward the gulf side of Florida. Simply because of the clearer water. Any recommendations on where to stay ?? Thanks, Derick

siesta key in sarasota, look up the palm bay club you can't go wrong there. If you end up going to Sarasota, go to demitrioes for the best pizza ever, and Phillippi Creek for seafood. You won't be sorry

I love to go to both Panama City and Destin. The sugar-white sand and the crystal-clear water can't be beat!

We have been vacationing in Perdido Key( near Gulf Shores/Orange Beach Alabama),Pensacola,Destin, and Panama Beach for years. You can't miss with any of these choices ! Check in with the Miracle Strip Corvette Club in Pensacola they usually have something going on .We went to a show last year they put on at the beach and had a BLAST ! The Vets and Jets show is at the Naval Air Museum next month.

I've lived in Sarasota for ~33 years and still like it!
Used to vacation on Siesta Key with my parents (back in the dark ages).
My preference for pizza, though is Dino's on Bee Ridge Rd!
When ya planning your vacation?

Not sure of your budget: In Tampa, If you want cheap beach, look up Grand Shores West http://www.grandshoreswest.com/ for less than $100 a night, great beach and lots of food nearby, or you can cook out there. Many other places along the 14 miles of beach there.

What time of year?

Any place in FL can still be darned chilly Dec-Jan-Feb, we froze our a%% off all the way down in Bonita Springs last year.

Conversely, further north is better in late Spring/Summer.

Either way, ehjoy!

If you are looking for a great getaway, google North Captiva. Only accessible by boat. If not looking for that type of seclusion, you cant beat the beaches of Sanibel/Captiva.

Treasure Island in the Tampa Bay is great. I used to live down on Sunset Beach and like to visit a few times a year. Not far from Clearwater, St. Pete or Tampa CBD.

Best to do Destin after spring break is over and before Memorial Day.
Destin is good for the harbor/fishing. For the beaches travel a few miles EAST into Walton County.

Im in Tampa. There is a ton of fun little things to do here if you want to stay busy.

If you want to just relax, catch the beach and lower your blood pressure, Head south to Sarasota, siesta key, ft. myers, and they have really beautiful beaches.

You can find budget to big bucks in Destin. Many, many choices. If you like smaller crowds you may want to consider Navarre Beach.
