Ft. Walton; Destin area question
I'm looking to get a hotel or something to that affect on Sunday July 10th and Monday July 11th. Does anyone have any kind of insite of best places and prices to stay?

There are several name brand hotels on Okaloosa Island (Hilton, Radisson, etc.) and a fairly new condo complex right on the edge of the Destin Harbour and the Destin inlet. I know a while back some of the condos were available to rent for just the price of the cleaning fee. The condo complex is called Emerald Grand so you may be able to do a search and get some info. Since I live about 5 miles from Destin's beaches, there is no need for me to stay at any of these places so I can't give you any prices.
You may also try to PM members Larsatthebeach or Torchy2000 as they both know the area's resorts pretty well.

so... checked out the web sites etc... and the pricing is ummm how you say OUTRAGEOUS!!! Anyone have some better inputs? I am probably going to have to settle with a hotel just figured someone might know someone or something at a better rate. If anyone can help I'd greatly appreciate it.

Welcome to summer time in FL. Everything goes up in price. You'd think with today's economy these places would be more enticing to bring in more tourism. I don't mind the influx of tourists. It keeps us from paying state tax.
There are plenty of chain hotels that will get you close to the beach. Don't get discouraged.

Honestly you would be better off going to VRBO.com and renting a house for 3 days if you can stay another (do NOT go to a realtor).

got a buddy stationed in Pensacola but plan on staying in either ft. walton or destin on the water. Don't mind payin the prices just was kinda hoping someone had a insider some where

Try looking into the Sandestin Hilton beach resort - on the gulf side or Baytowne Warf overlooking the bay. Both are beautiful golf resort complexes across the street (Hwy 98) from each other. Summer rates are much higher, but very scenic. We've stayed at both places several times and we're locals! Many, many places to eat as well in the surrounding area! Try the local seafood at the Back porch, A.J's (and bar), Lighthouse or bonefish grill restaurants. Lots to see and do in the area. Enjoy your visit and check out the Harborwalk Village at the Destin harbor.
