Any good country roads in Northern, VA where I can open my car up? Not looking to do 150mph or anything just looking to do a few nice acceleration runs from a stop or maybe a burnout or two. With all of the VA police out there, the interstates are not the place for sure. 3K on the GS and havent really put the pedal to the metal for more than a couple of seconds.

There are some nice roads through the Clifton area, maybe not good for burnouts and acceleration runs but fun to drive.

I can't think of anywhere in NoVA where you can do 'acceleration runs' without a bunch of other cars or cops around. I'm sure someone will chime in with some ideas.

I may have to go farther west than Clifton. There must be some lonely untraveled country roads without traffic (or police) someplace.
Thanks

Just a suggestion. Get a friend in another car and a cell phone and head out RTE 66 past Rte 17, Have them run lookout a mile or two ahead at the speed limit and let her rip. Pick a time of no/lesser traffic.

Just saying.

Opening any car up in Northern Virginia is an invitation for trouble. Traffic is just about the worse in the country, and you are just asking for with police giving you a ticket or showing up for an accident. NOT WORTH IT.

Go to Summit Point Friday at the Track, and open your GS up all day LEGALLY. Its a great time, and I think you will enjoy it.

Sumerduck or Old Dominion for burn outs is the way to go.

What ever you do, say away from the beltway, the construction has the entire beltway torn up, and people drive like fools. You will be going 80 MPH in passing lane, then a Prius decides to cut in front of you going 40MPH, no warning at all. Don't even have to tell you about 95, the largest parking lot in the world, and 66 is not better, until you go beyond Haymarket, and now that is patroled quite often by the State. Interstate 81 use to be a good area after Winchester to New Market, but you hit again a lot of Staties.

Skyline drive, don't even try it. Traffic has increased and is heavily patrolled, and now you have deer and bear to contend with. Yeah that's right bear, several have been hit the past year.

Remember also VA has that new speeding law, and you will pay a heafty fine if caught.

Stretch your legs on the track, cheaper and safer in the long run.

If you want to go out for a drive, head out toward the Blue Ridge and get lost on all the side roads that parrellel Route 81, go up 211 and get lost up near Sperryville, south to Lurry to New Market. you got a lot of small twisty and turnies out there, but still you will run into the farm tractor, or slow sightseers. A lot of good roads and scenery, just take it easy.

Regards,
