Default Okracoke, NC ferries?

Has anyone here taken their Corvette onto the Okracoke ferries going to Hatteras and Cedar Island? I'd like to take that trip this Summer, but all it would take is one severe on or off ramp and I'd be stuck with having to choose doing the scrape across or backtracking.

There are some drawbacks trying to do some travelling in these things...

I think what would bother me the most is how tight the cars are packed in there......

I was in the Outer Banks last September with my Z06 and I had no problem with the Ferry at all.

Yeah, the pictures in the following post REALLY show what you mean by "packed in".....

The doors on the vette are pretty long, so I can see where it might be tough even getting out of the car while on the ferry.

I''ve ridden the ferry from Hatteras to Okracoke many times and don't remember there being a steep approach or departure, but as shown above, you are defniitely packed in. I've never ridden it in the Vette though.

I've taken my C4 across on several trips. The ferry crews are very accomodating and put my car up near the front so me and the bride could get out easily and had first dibs on exit. Ramps are no problem.

BTW, C34ME - I have the same color scheme on my original '77.

Numerous times. My wife's family is Chesapeake/Virginia Beach and I worked a short job stint in OBX in 2006-07.

No issues. Just remember the Ocracoke departing ferry is not 24hrs. Got caught up with the locals and missed the ferry back to Hatteras. Stayed at nice hotel until the AM ferry arrived the next morning.
