Hey Jody! I was talkin to SloJoe this mornin about this! Last i heard Mark was gonna check into alternative sites to meet 'cause at the time Bucko's wasn't sure if they were gonna have their "Cruise In Tuesdays". IMHO...i don't think we need a "Cruise In" to get together like we do.

Maybe we should just plan on meetin' there one tuesday and decidin' where to go for our NEXT get together then?

Thoughts???

I have "dropped the ball"! :smash:

Life has been real crazy around here lately! Starting up my own business (LOOOOONNNNNNG story) and my father has been in the hospital for the last couple of weeks (serious brain stuff, but he appears to be getting better!!).

Here is what I have and haven't done:

* Called Buckos and was told that they did not have plans to sponsor a cruise-in because a new barbeque place just opened up down the street (old Hardee's) and they are having a cruise-in on Thursday nights. Missy and John own Bucko's again (bought it from "Moose"). Maybe they would sponsor just us Corvettes.....or we could join the Thurday night cruise-in at the barbeque joint???

* I didn't ever check on places in the Huntersville area. However, I did drive by Johnny Rockets (west side of exit 23). The restaraunt looks pretty cool, but the parking area was not too plentiful and it was pretty packed the evening I drove over there. Maybe they would block us off an area? It is also not very visible from the main road! Any other ideas for that area? Would someone that lives closer to exit 23 or 25 want to scope out some spots?

* About a month ago I talked to a manager at the Hooters on Speedway Blvd in Concord. He said that they would allow us to set-up a cruise-in there on occassion. Us Charlotte area folks need to have our Hooters Cruise-in every once in a while!!! You know....for the great wings that they serve!!! :D

Other than that, I haven't done much to get us organized again! Sorry!!! :(

Mark

OK!! Got some info!!

I stopped by (the place is called SWEET FIRE BBQ)...and talked with the owner....seemed like a nice enough guy!
He is having Cruise Ins every Thurs. nite between 6-8pm....summer hours will be till 9pm.

I explained yadda yadda yadda...*chuckle*...anyhoo...he said he would be more than happy for us to start going there!! so far he hasn't had a big turn out...but the ''season'' is still young yet.
I got a copy of the menu!!!!..looks pretty damn good to me!!!
Got a really nice patio there as well.

ok where it is......it is on the opposite side from Buckos.....there is a BP station and a car lot then the BBQ.....right next to the Food Lion....if you miss it you can always turn into the Food Lion..there is a way in to the BBQ place from that parking lot.

Sooo....I guess what we need to do is decide WHEN!!!

Let me hear from yas!!!! :yesnod:

I can do that. It may be a bit of a "farewell tour" for me. I think I may have accidentally sold my car  .

By the way, if we were the Bucko's gang while at Bucko's, does meeting at Sweet Fire BBQ make us the Flaming Sweeties.....

Ok, not enough sleep last night. Sorry.

Saturday I had a friend over helping me with installing the subs and amp (which I was able to finish Sunday morning thanks to Alchemist  ). Sunday at our montly club meeting he asked how much I would want for the car. I made up a price, and he said ok  . I just got an email from him saying he would be going to the credit union for a check when he gets back from vacation next week.

C5's are nice, but I want to go older. I'd love to find a midyear or bumper car  (though a good price for a ZR1 or GS would be tempting).

I think I can make it Thursday the 9th, but, I will have to drive the Chevelle. My vette is still out of commision. I have received the distributor and carb back from Lars (very beautiful work) and have re-installed the distributor, but, I let my Daddy borrow the carb until his Q-Jet is rebuilt.

Dwayne
