I just discovered a nail in a rear tire. It is in the center of the tread so should be repairable. I am new to the Macon area and need some tire service advice. Anybody have any first hand experience of any tire dealers in Macon? Somebody you trust with your Vette?

Why, yes I am. And I have a warehouse full of tires, about $3 million worth and tire equipment to mount most of it. However, our tire machine is not new enough and my tire technician is used to changing tires on 18 wheel big rigs.
I have been in Macon for only two months and not sure who to use. I have many customers that I sell to because I am a wholesaler and truck tire service center. But I have no personal experience to draw from and I need to be very comfortable about who works on my car.
I could do the work my self but I am not familiar with our tire machine and I don't want to learn on a high dollar rim and tire.
Hmm...I'll ask a few people I know around here. I can't thing of anyone off of the top of my head. If it's the stock wheel and you're concerned about it, have you considered calling the dealer? May be worth at least a phone call.
In the mean time you can PM user name "sperkins" on here. He has a thread close to this one called "middle ga corvette mechanic". He may not be able to do it, but he might be able to point you in the right direction.
I've done business with just about every tire shop in town and have never been overly pleased (price/service/scratches etc.).
I bought a tire machine that I use for Corvette wheels/tires all the time. I'm runflat certified through Goodyear, but it's been a few years and I'm not so sure my machine is strong enough to handle one of those. Mine is a Hunter TC3500 which is designed specifically for Runflats, but my compressor isn't up to the job.
Anyway if it's not a Runflat, I'd be more than happy to help (N/C). Drop it by if you have it off the car, or I can come out and change it for you and bring it back to the shop. Whatever is easier for you.
Let me know!
Thanks,
Scott
Email or PM me for my phone number. I've posted it here before and it spawned some really crazy non-corvette related calls.
Hey Scott. It is a run-flat. But I appreciate the offer. At some point I want to do some suspension upgrades, maybe coil-overs. That is as soon as I finish with the interior upgrades. I do need an oil change and lube. I will PM you.
Doesn't tire rack have a list of recommended installers that they ship their tires directly to? Call them up, see who they recommend?
I had the same thought but all they list locally is the Firestone corporate owned stores like Tires Plus and Expert Tire. These are all set by Firestone corporate. I know because I helped set up the program between Tire Rack and Firestone when I worked for Firestone. They do list the equipment but it is more about the tech's ability with the equipment. That is why I was hoping for some personal experience.
Take I-75 North to Exit 216 (McDonough) about 45 mins away from you just past Tanger Outlet and go to Bellemy Strickland Chevrolet. This is a family owned dealership and the best I have delt with in my 30 years of buying cars. They can do a nitrogen fill while you are there.
