My Corvette club will be stopping here for the night on our way to the Tail of the Dragon at the end of July. I had a few questions, and was hoping a "local" could help me out.
1. Where to stay? Our group will have a few convertibles, and they have expressed some concerns with staying right in the "downtown" area with regard to the safety of their cars.
2. Is there a "scenic" route from Louisville to the Tail? We have a place to stay in Maggie Valley, but I was looking for something a little off the beaten path, something a little more interesting to add to the trip. I know the Kentucky/Tennessee area has some of the best roads for Corvettes, and I was hoping someone familiar with the area could help me out with a route they've taken.
3. What to do? We're only in Louisville for the one night, but I'd like to do something fun.
Any help you guys could offer I'd really appreciate. Thanks in advance!
I visited a number of times while my daughter lived there. The hotels along I-264 near I-65by the Fairgrounds seemed to be popular with the National Street Rod guys who take over the area in August. Belle of Louisville river cruise was nice. 4th Street Live! may have something going on. Breakfast at Lynn's Paradise Cafe is a must before you leave town.
