considering taking the vette to gatlinburg and we want to drive thru cades cover and driveup the mountain to do some trails. How vette friendly are these roads? I'mloweredon stock bolts also. we really want to take the vette down but a little nervous at the same time. Thoughts/suggestions? Thanks guys!
If you are lowered, I guarantee you will scrape some once you get into Cades Cove proper. The road from G'burg to Cades Cove is fine but the road within the Cades Cove area has some dips and rises that will scrape a Vette.
If that doesn't bother you, do the Roaring Fork Trail road starting in G'burg at traffic light #8. It's a nice ride through the woods and mountains with old settler cabins to see and 1000 Drips Falls.

yea we did those a few years ago but in a small suv and i didn't have the vette at the time. I don't mind the air dam scraping but the rest isn't cool.
We were in the cove Friday , and the one small creek crossing at the beginning of the loop was probably deep enough to put some water in your Vette. We visit the cove frequently, and I can assure you that there are a couple of concrete bridges where you would have problems. You can rent bikes at the cove store, and it is not a bad ride around the loop (and you can cut it almost in half by going across Hyatt Lane). If you want to see animals, the elk come out just about every evening at the visitors center on the Cherokee side of the mountain, and 441 is a nice ride. A landslide has 441 closed for the next few weeks, but it is scheduled to re- open in mid-May. Do not speed anywhere in the park, as the federales have no sense of humor.
The comment about an auto trans is probably referring to the traffic. Much of the time, there is a line of traffic going no more than 5 or 10mph and it is constant stop and go.
If you go during the week when school is still in, it may not be as bad. Weekends and holidays are murder.
I've been to gatlinburg but slightly worried about driving up some of the mountains to go to trails and for sight seeing. I just don't remember what the roads were like lol.
Like The Director said, stop and go, probably not too bad during this early part of the season, and plenty of nice places to park and walk to cabins/churches etc.I have done it on a bike and it gets old pulling that clutch! If there is even a squirrel they stop, and ya cant pass, so if on a hill... well ya know!!! You do have good timing as the dogwoods are late this year, but any minute now its going to pop!!

Reason: caps
Roaring fork is no problem, drove mine up ther last year, only place you may have problems is Cade's cove. I remember it being pretty bumpy in a truck.
There is only one place near the end of Cade cove that that has much of a dip.
They resurfaced the entire road about 2 years ago. The rest of the park is pretty much paved well enough for most Vettes. While in the area, near Cades cove is the foothills parkway leading over to Hwy 129 ( the tail of the Dragon), both are memorial trips for folks like us.
Well we had a great time in gatlinburg. The weather was perfect, food was great and saw some nice cars/beautiful scenery. We did the rainbow falls trail (just under 6 miles) and was a lot more difficult than we expect but it was awesome (minus the snake we came across). We got some nice pics in Roaring Fork, I'll post them eventually! The vette was smooth and fun to drive 4+ hrs while getting 32mpg!!
