It's been 2 days of being a '74 owner and my Husband has already started a "little" laundry list of things he would like to do. I call those the fun stuff!
I do have 2 major items I need to take care of and hope someone on the forum can help me.
1) I need someone to look at the air conditioning, adjust the clutch and adjust the emergency brake. Can anyone recommend a shop? Can I (or should I) go to any shop to get these looked at or should it be a specialty shop like Corvette Masters?
2) I'm missing my front bumper cover and was going to purchase it online somewhere. But I still will need to get it painted and attached and while they are at it remove the back bumper covers, paint and reattached (the guy we bought it off of tried but didn't have much success lining it up). Any suggestion for a body shop? or Should I just have the body shop get the bumper cover and do it all? Assuming I find a good body shop.
I'm looking for one or two Corvette clubs in Orlando to use them especially for resources and asking these questions in person, but until then, I'm just going to bug the forum
1) Corvette Masters or Courtesy Chevrolet on Colonial. Corvette Masters has a good reputation but I've never used them personally. Courtesy Chevrolet has a Corvette specialist there who knows what he's doing, and have a dedicated garage just for Corvettes. When I have taken my '11 in there for warranty work I have always seen a few C2-C5s in there as well.
2) Burke Corvettes, they are superb, and right by Corvette Masters. That is where I have had all my custom body work done. No worries about things not being done right.

I agree that BUrke Corvette is a very good body shop. I use
Corvette Masters and they have a great reputation you can't
go wrong with them. By the way I use Burke and it would be hard to
beat their quality workmanship.
Absolutely agree re: Tim Burke. He is only one I would take my car to in Orlando for body/paint work! He can fix anything...there was a Ferrari 458 getting a full paint job when I was there for my little surgery !
I had Tim Burke paint my MCM hood and blend the front of my C5 8 years ago...still looks great....took my girlfriends 02 to his shop and the paint work has bubbled and chipped under the passnger door, the front bumper has many defects and overall it was far less than what I expected from him it looked great initially but over time it has gotten worse. No idea what went wrong but I don't see us driving back to Orlando anytime soon.

Sorry to hear that! I had a decent experience with Tim.

You are making a big mistake. Tim Burke stands behind ALL of his
work. You should take your vette back to Burke's and have it repaired.
Come back to Orlando....................

I sent (his shop is 3 hours away) the front plate back to him a few weeks after it was painted so that he could repaint it, since it had so many issues. The issues came back after a few weeks.
It has been a few years and every time I wash the Vette I notice more paint peeling and chips only on the area he painted. It seems like the top layer of paint is coming off. He also painted the hood and there are chip on top of the hood and under (he painted the underside). Also, under the passengers door a bubble of paint has chipped all the way through and all I see is white. This was an insurance claim for piece of metal that a truck in front of me dropped in the road.
He also repainted my interior pieces and these are doing the same thing. It appears layers of paint are chipping off.
No way I am going back sorry.

I am sorry to hear your misfortune. I, like many others had alot of
paint work done several years ago and my paint looks new. I still get
best paint awards at car shows today. I have no explanation for
your paint issues. I hope you can find a shop you can trust. Have you
contacted your insurance company?? I would think they would offer
a repaint. Good luck.
I had Tim do a complete custom paint job on my '99 C5 FRC back in 2003. I sold the car last year and the paint looked as good as the day I picked it up from his shop.
