Anyone ever been there or know anything about this place?
My Dad bought a bunch of land and built a house there. He says he will give me some heavily wooded acreage if I want to build a vacation/retirement home.
Ain't never been there, but it is in extreme SW VA. Ain't near nuttin'. Looks to be closer to Winston-Salem than anything else. Probably unspoiled and beautiful, though.
Kiss the fickle Telecommunications Industry goodbye, that's what. Do some consultant training as I choose, watch mother nature go by, and rip some mountain roads in the Vette.
Jim, it's a beautiful area. You're right at the Blue Ridge Parkway, awesome driving roads and scenery. Close to Mount Airy, AKA Mayberry, and within an hour or so of Winston-Salem.
Jim and I set out first thing tomorrow morning from little town Auburn, Ga (near Athens, Ga) for Fancy Gap. MapQuest says 6hrs. Should be a fun trip in the Vette.
We drive through Fancy Gap all the time going to the beaches. It's really nothing but farmland. Very beautiful though. I remember when I was younger, we ust to stop there every summer to get vegetables on our way home. The people there are very nice and very country. No big time city folks there. You'll like it I believe. :yesnod:
