PCM of NC should be able to handle that - and a tune.

I have heard good things about JHR Performance. I'm planning on taking my car there for a tune.

Better piece of mind knowing your engines will not grenade, dropping exhaust valves. Random but yes it has happened to forum members with low mileage and never tracked their Z06. The preventive cost is cheaper than the gamble some say.

P.S LFZ ?? stands for Low Fast Z06 or Lefty Socialist ?

Thanks all.Nothing wrong with it at all. 3 year warranty coming with the car and no issues so far. Previous owner, found through the name on the digital display and some fb sleuthing , stating no issues and it's maintained at a local dealer.

Ahhh yes....the dreaded valve drop...damn fatal for those garage queens.

Why would you assume I'm a socialist?

Hey guys,
I saw this thread and thought I would chime in.
I just got my 2007 Z also and it has a few bolt ons. I have an appointment with Alvin and Kelly up at PCM of NC in Mooresville on March 9th for a dyno tune.
I know very little about my car and mods done. Im not sure if the heads have been worked or not and Im gonna ask Alvin to see if he can tell. Funny how I buy a Z06 with long tube headers and cold air and it has the factory tune installed....hmmmm
Maybe I will see you guys at some car shows or events this coming year.

I am using PCM of NC to do my engine build and they use Advanced Induction in Concord, NC to do their head work.

They do a lot of work and it will take you at least 2 months to get on their schedule. They are planning to start on my car in late March.

What kind of performance gains are they projecting with the tune?

I didn't get a tune. They're tune person wasn't in that so I didn't get any answers other than pricing. The $400 tune will take 3-4 hours or so.

I had Gibbons Motorsports in Mooresville do my heads. They are authorized to do repairs under GMPP. They are about 10 miles past PCM but they are a one stop shop. They will pull the heads, use bore gauge and micrometer to check clearance, do all machine work in house and reinstall the heads. They build race engines for ASA cars and other race series. They also do machine work for Hendrick and Joe Gibbs racing. I figured if those two teams trusted them to do work for them that I could trust them myself. I got a price from them to pull the heads, measure the clearances and reinstall the heads so I would know what my minimum cost would be. They found two intakes a shade out of clearance the rest were all well within spec. What to do next was the hard part because the valves could just be moved around all clearances would have been acceptable. Peter(the owner) contacted GMPP for me and they sent a guy out to check the shop the next day. That guy authorized them to do the work and approved two brand new heads. Once the heads came in I had Peter install Ti/Mo intakes/exhaust valves and bronze guides. Cost of parts was $2800. Cost of labor was $1000 (disassembly, clean, machine, install the bronze guides, set the guide clearance and reassemble the heads). Peter's son bought my old heads for the cost of the labor and I had a $5.2K job done for the $2800 in parts.

Bill
