do you know of any group that is meeting together for the ride up. I would like to join a group of all vettes and not be thrown in a bunch of riceburners and mustang drivers

Some sections are quick and others are just OK. The worst was a Mustang club and I got stuck behind a twit in a later-model one who never went over 65. Why even go?
This group was fun. They hauled *** on the straights.
The turns, not so much. The gray car in front of my old C5 was making something like 770 to the ground.

Are you allowed to have minors ride along in the car. I was thinking of bringing my 12 year old for the experience

I had to work till 1 o'clock then I took the afternoon off and went straight to the track after that. Got in line by 2. I got in three runs with minimal waiting. This could be my plan from now on. We had small run groups and no waiting.
When I was waiting in line on the false grid, I was behind an older BMW M3, a dad from Winston-Salem and his two boys 16 and 12. Dad traded driving sessions with the 16 year-old. The younger kid was admiring my car so I told him to ask his dad if it was OK for him to go for a ride. I'm not sure who was more excited, the dad or the kid. We had a pretty decent group so we got over a buck thirty on the back straight and 110+ in the Climbing Esses.
I met them again when I was in line at the photo trailer. When looking through the pics of my car, I saw one that had a real clear view of him in the passenger seat. I selected that one and had the lady give it to him. He's one seventh grader who's going to have some serious bragging rights in his neighborhood.

JCS coming in while we were headed to the gate. Arriving late may have been the trick. VIR crew did a great job moving a lot of vehicles with large groups. Until around 2 there were many Sunday drivers out on a Friday. A couple of runs had the lead car catching the chase car within 1 1/2 laps. The SLOW drivers kept most runs broken into frustrated groups. Some were cars that could not handle the curves, some were drivers with same handicap. Even the escort drivers were commenting. But a group of polite congenial people.

We had a great time, moved much faster and was done by lunch time. Wish they can do cars in different groups. More HP vs basic cars. Had Sunday drivers both times.

Had a very good time running those "charity" laps. I couldn't imagine how intense it gets during a full timed event
