Beware Georgians! GSP is using LIDAR!
:yesnod: Passed a Georgia State Patrol cruiser set up on the left side of the road on I-85 this morning and was tagged with Laser - Escort 8500 picked it up before I saw him too! No, I wasn't pulled over, traffic wasn't going fast enough to exceed the speed limit!

yep. I got popped a couple of weeks ago, on HW75, around the ariport. This guy says he tagged me at 1037 feet. I think I saw on Valentine's site that the max effective range is around 1100 feet for these things. That said, I've also seen data reporting ranges up to 2500 feet. Any one have any additional supporting data?

Marietta city police have been using it for a couple of years also. They got me a while back on Ga. Hwy 120.

LIDAR is a topographic mapping tool used from the AIR. Are you sure of your reference? :confused:
