Saw the forecast earlier & thought how ridiculous it would be to even attempt the Gap in winter weather. Does anyone know if the road is ever closed (due to weather) for any extended periods?

Nope ... not even traveling from the Augusta area until a little later. We were in Knoxville last April for a wedding. Naturally we came up 129 through the gap (I explained to the wife that it was the only logical route ... time saving, etc.) :rolleyes:
Next time we come that way we'll give a "serious" holler to run the Gap. :cheers:
