Hey Gang, Left Dandridge at 9:30 a.m. and was at Cumberland Gap at 2:30 p.m., beautiful country, nice roads. Here is a tennative plan, Leave Dandridge at 9a.m. arrive in VA. and stop at the Natural Tunnel state park around 10:30 and explore the park for a while. The tunnel is more than 1 million years old. We will take a chair lift down to the tunnel or walk if you prefer. After the Tunnel we will hit the road again stopping at a couple of points that have enough parking for all of us. One stop will be the Wilderness Road State Park and possibly a tour of an old mansion. It's only open on Sundays and I am trying to see if they will let us see it on Saturday. From there on to Cumberland Gap for a late lunch at the Tea Room Restaurant. Then on to Abe's Museum for a little history, they close at 4 so we might be cutting it close. Unless we can get the Exeception up earlier.

I do need a head count for the Tea Room and told them I would let them know this week. I know every one can't commit right away but if we can get close i will make sure we have a place to EAT!!!!

We can meet at Perkins for breakfast or my offer still stands but we would have to do it early because coming to my place will ad another hour. Let's get a head count and firm up a time and go :steering: :auto: :hurray: No Dragons here guys only a few snakes. :cheers:

Rick & Jan, we will be coming down 11E through Kingsportto 23 north to Gate city. I was planning on stopping just outside Gate city, along the road is a sign that says DAIEL BOONE WILDERNESS TRAIL and there is a little building there with brochures. Do you know where this is?

July 12th,exit 417 meet at perkins at 8:00 for breakfast or 9:00 for launch. We will take hwy.66 to Morristown, 160 to 25E to 11E to Kingsport and 23North to VA., After the tunnel we will get on Hwy.58 and head to Cumberland Gap. :auto: :auto: :flag :flag

I know exactly where that is. It's only 15 minutes from the house. We will meet you when you get on 23. We have been to Natural Tunnel several times. It is very nice. Sounds like a fun trip.

D'oh!! July 12th I will be at my family reunion in Western KY, but I plan on stopping at the national Corvette Museum on Monday on the way home! Maybe next time!

While eating dinner I met a couple driving a niiiice '75 from Abington, VA and invited them to join us on July 12th for the Daniel Boone trip. I carded them, but it was my business card, and gave them instructions on how to find us.

Hope they can make it..........and wish I didn't suffer from CRS :cuss or I'd tell you there names! I guess being in the SUN for 12 hours had something to do with it! :cuss :cuss Cook's the 'ol brain you know! :crazy:

Anyway, just wanted to let everyone know so you could give them a SMC welcome!!
