If you're taking 81 North to get there, then it's on the way. Winchester is pretty much the Northern tip of VA.

Oh yea...I remember where Winchester is!! We usually drive up Hwy 17 and hit I-81 in Winchester. Keep me posted on timing and location and we will try to hook up with you.

Thanks!!

Will do, what time do you estimate you will be picking up 81 in Winchester? Maybe I could just meet you somewhere close to where you pick it up.

Anyone else coming through the area?

I am not quite sure how long it will take to get from the north side of Richmond to Winchester. We usually leave around 8:00am on Friday (past trips). The exit where Hwy 17 hits I-81 is fairly developed (if I remember correctly). We could try to meet there.

Just keep me posted! Thanks!!

You take 17 to RT 50 to get to Winchester, correct?

I just looked at MapQuest and it does look like Hwy 17 merges w/ Hwy 50 and eventually hits I-81 at exit #313 (Millwood Ave.?).

Yep, Millwood Ave is where rt. 50 drops off and you pick up 81. There are businesses all over the place there and a few hotels. How about the Holiday Inn parking lot? It's on the same side of the road that you will be coming in on and right before you get to the turn that takes you onto 81.

Chris99FRC - I'll be heading up there from NOVA, but I usually take 15 (closer to Reston). Last year, there was a good group leaving from the Northern VA. Community College campus on Rte. 7.

I don't really know how far away from Winchester it is, I think it's a haul. If you're familiar with the area, it's on Rte. 7 right between Reston and Sterling. I haven't actually heard anything about a caravan this year, but I'm hoping there will be one.

Okay, I just checked a map, and you are very close to 81. I'd definitely recommend taking that route. 81 runs right up to Carlisle, and offers multiple access points. You'd be going a fair distance out of your way to meet up with the caravan I mentioned. Have fun, see you there!

Yea, I'm just a few minutes away from 81 which goes right up to Carlisle. Do you guys take 15 all the way up to there or do you get on another route?

It would be kinda neat if we could have Corvetteforum devoted parking, that way we could all meet up at some point up there.

I normally head all the way up 15 and then take another road (sorry, can't think of the name) into Carlisle through Mt. Holly Springs. It's quicker if you stay on 15 for a few more miles, but I like the drive, and it's worth the extra 10 or 15 minutes to me.

As for Corvette Forum parking, that would be pretty cool. Don't know what it costs, though.

I wonder how that could be set up? I guess we would need a definate head count to get enough space for everyone that attends a spot, but heck, they sometimes have ZR-1 parking, and Callaway parking, so why not Corvette Forum parking? Who would have to be contacted to arrange this, any ideas??

I would imagine that this would have to be set up through Chip Miller and Carlisle Productions as they are the ones in charge of the show. It would probably also be a good idea to get Troy's blessing and find out if there's a particular person that needs to be the forum contact, or if anyone can do it. It's a little late for this year, but maybe it's something we could set up for next year. I'm sure there are enough forum members that would be willing to park there to make it worth while. The only potential snag that I see is that the other clubs are all dues paying, "card carrying" types, so I don't know if there would have to be a fee or some sort of criteria (i.e. preregistration) for people who wanted to park in the Corvette forum section.

I agree that it's too late to fool with it this year, but next year possibly.

Hey guys & gals!! I posted a thread in general about a month ago concerning a caravan to Carlisle. Wife & I are leaving Florida on the 20th, up 95 , Going to take a side trip to Norfolk to visit my sister, then on to Pa Thursday morning. We'll be staying in Gettysburg though, with my brother. We're going to take in the show and visit friends & family in the area. (I was raised there). So...If ya see an 02 Quicksilver Coupe on the way....give us a shout!! Plan on taking a CB with us. My better half likes to flirt with the truckers, so we'll be on CB ch 19. Just holler for Silverbullit! Hope to see a lot of Forum members there! Have a safe trip everyone!! :seeya
