Drove from Atlanta to Florida today down I-75. In Henry County at about mile marker 211 0r 210, there was the biggest speed trap that I have ever seen. The radar car was on a bridge over pass, doing "instant on", and just over the rise, maybe three hundred yards beyond the bridge, there were 13 cop cars in the median chasing speeders, and another four cop cars down the highway a bit, with cars already pulled over.
I was doing about 78 MPH and they didn't bother me. :blueangel:
If you're travelling by car over the holidays, be careful!
My buddy got busted in about the same area in July doing 91mph. Hell it was 4 am and no one was in site. (so we thought) The fines are unbelieveable. For 30 over the fine is $550 and if you have had a ticket within the last 3 years it was $600 I believe. Can you guess which one he got? Yep, he was 14 days away from being clean for 3 years. That had to have been the hardest ticket he has ever paid. Oh well, you live and learn. No more speeding in Georgia for me. :auto:
78 mph and they didn't pull you..? I envy you. I have a buddy that got pulled here in the **** state going 81 mph at 3 AM. He was on a desolate interstate just cruising and he spent 5 days in jail.
Re: Atlanta - radar trap - caution!!!!! (C4 Newbie)
No the way the law is set up, the only law enforcement official that can issue a ticket for exceeding the speed limit by 10 mph or less, is a GSP officer. They can stop you and harass you or ticket you for something else, but not speeding. I'll look up the law for you.
Basically, it was enacted to prevent or reduce speed traps through these tiny little towns. Also the unit has to be checked before every shift and they have to be recalibrated annually.
They can get you in a school zone for less than ten over.
