Yes, I shot all of those... I have to thank Linda and my nephew Mike (and others like yourself...) for freeing me up in the mornings so I can do some socializing at the dealership. Then, once the cars leave the lot, I pretty much just go for the ride just like the rest of you. I didn't in the early days; I fretted over everything. Eventually I got past that and now the cruises just seem to, well, cruise!

I am always looking for ideas to prevent the cruise from becoming stale. Keep the comments flowing as I read all of them. Thanks for all the help.
Besides the food and parking, we can't PEEL OUT from the Mimslyn. That is an essential part of the experience!!!

Jim, hats off to you and everyone else involved in the cruise,as first time attendees my wife and I were both blown away by the turnout and the great time we had. We both are looking forward to the Spring cruise. She did make one suggestion that I'd like to pass along(don't know if this has been addressed in the past) she thinks a good idea would be name tags possibly with the persons forum "handle" on it.For us newbees it would be very helpful to be able to place a name with the postings on the forum would also make it easier to introduce oneself to others. Once again "KUDOS"for a excellent job.

Great cruise, Jim. Thanks again for your hard work.

Quite honestly, though, I thought the Mimslyn Inn was far better than Brookside. Better food, seating, and indoor restrooms. A small group of us bailed when we saw what was being offered at Brookside and went into Luray for lunch.

Looking forward to Spring Skyline!

We did name tags way back when. The reason we don't anymore is because I just keep forgetting to get them... Someone remind me before the spring cruise and I'll bring some blank stick-on name tags. BTW, Linda and I forgot our CF name tags this time as well...

Lunch is probably always going to be a weak link. I hear what you are saying about Mimslyn, but I really have concerns about parking. Believe it or not, in the spring when we did Mimslyn, we had a group of cars go do lunch at Brookside... Maybe we should start the cruise a little later, cruise through lunch and end the cruise at an early dinner somewhere??? We can usually be flexible in the spring because the turnout isn't as large as the fall. (At least it wasn't until this spring...)

Thanks for putting this weekend together. My wife and I had an a great time.

A lot of fun to cruise around with 150 beautiful cars.

I thought brookside worked out fairly well, expecially considering there were 150 cars to accommodate. You'll never be able to make everyone happy, but in my mind, $5 for a bbq sandwich is a bit steep.

Thanks again for the effort that you and everyone involved put into this great event. I look forward to the next one!

Hey Jim

As you said, lunch will always be a weak link...for several reasons!

Most of which boil down to..."you can't satisfy everyone!"

I agree, the Mimslynn is not my favorite choice! Parking is iffy, service was slow!

Here are some proposed solutions...1) eat a big breakfast and skip lunch! 2) pack a small cooler with drinks and sandwiches...Brookside doesn't charge to park there and eat and use their bathroom! 3) Some people, in the past, have brought Grills and BBQd their own food...again, Brookside didn't charge them for the privilege!

Are Brooksides charges too high? Let's see..they rented a tent, set out tables and chairs, trash cans, filled up their parking lot with vettes so no one else could get in, had three people devoted to us for two maybe three hours, bought probably more food than they sold.. and say they had a total of 150 people eat and pay at an average cost of $ 6 per person!!!

Man! they got rich!! 150 people at $ 6.00 is the worldly sum of $ 900.00

If Donald Trump finds out they grossed $ 900.00 for three hours work, he'll probably buy the place, and put his apprentices to work to figure out how to charge us twice as much!

Like I said at first, eat a big breakfast and use the bathrooms for free!

I know getting lunch plans for that large a group is very difficult. My post wasn't meant to criticize at all...I just *really* loved the Mimslyn at Spring Skyline! But I can see how parking there is hard...guess we got pretty lucky this past spring, lawn was dry enough for us to park on, plus we had 100 as opposed to fall's 150 cars. Wow!

It's too bad the Mimslyn wasn't very easy to deal with, they'd be getting a lot of business. I understand how frustrating it is to get calls back from restaurant contacts, I am dealing with that right now for our club's end-of-year banquet.

Nevertheless, I think that lunch is still a good idea, although I wouldn't be opposed to your idea of doing a later cruise and finishing with dinner. That means we could sleep in a bit!

Looking forward to Spring Skyline! Kudos to you, Jim, for a job well done...

Your comments weren't seen as being negative. At least, not in my eyes... I view all opinions as constructive.
