That's a question many of us in Southern Ca would like to know. Actually, we do know, but they always have some stupid excuse on a reason not to do their job.
Seems they can't admit that the management of the various gov departments are so incompetent that they don't have money to do the job, unless, of course, they increase your taxes. In my area, they're talking about a half cent sales tax increase to fix the roads. Jerks.

I thought it was only us poor folks in Riverside County who had to deal with pot holes......I would have never thought you rich OCers would have to deal with pot holes too.....
If the pot hole is in the "city limits" call your public works department. Tell them EXACTLY where it is. (be nice)
And before you hang up ask what they think the time frame is for resolution. If you need to add something like "I'd sure hate to see another accident there" etc go for it. All's fair in love, war and governmental games. All cities and counties pay close attention to things that cause "public accidents" as they are a costly liability. If you need to call back, ask for the supervisor etc. Trust me... the squeeky wheel gets the grease.
These past storms have created more than the usual problems and its going to take the time. I understand your plight... I drive the same roads you do.
If you are in a "county area" find the county public works division for your area. I'm not really sure what they call it.
As a former county employee from a medium sized county... your best bet is Public Works dept for city then county. Cities generally are better funded 'cause they get less money from state. Unincorporated area..touch basis with County... but one of the best ways.. is bug the hell out of your city council member or county elected official.. They are REALLY good about following through on road work stuff.. usually a phone call from them down to the aforementioned dept takes care of it.. works in Long Beach too.. Hey.. it's your TAX dollars and you elected them!!!
