Beware of "Just Tires" in Laguna Hills!! I shopped around for the best priced tires...Tire Rack won, naturally. So, I called the closest preferred installer to my house...they beat the tire rack price. Well, they installed my tires, aligned wheels, etc. Being the trusting (or dumb) person I am, I just drove off in the car. My check engine light was on again so I cruised over to OC Corvettes...the guys over there saved the day again! I thought it looked like there was a lot of room between the rear tire and the wheel well and was asking Sean about lowering my car....well..... The dummy who installed my tire put the front wheel on the back and the back wheel on the front.Hey, I just drive it, I don't really know much else about it.
Blooty is going to get lowered when I get my re-tune (something else I forgot to do after I got the dyno which is prolly why the check engine light kept coming on)...and.....more mods!!!!! Some people are telling me I shouldn't lower the car, though. Opinions, anyone?

Go low baby, go low.
It looks way cool.
That is the funniest tire story I have ever heard.

Oh Tracie......come on now.....pay attention!!
BTW.....you missed a helluva C&C run today down here in ol' SD county!
Next time, eh??

How was the price for mounting and balance? Were any of the wheels nicked or scratched?

Unbelievable!!! I'm sorry, but I can't be politically correct on this one!
We have 2 "dummy's" here:
1) The installer and shop management.
2) And the owner that picked up his car and did not even notice the tires were switched! Man, that would stick out like a sore thumb!
Moral of the story:After getting work done on your car, ALWAYS closely look over the areas of said work - whether it be brakes, wheels, tires, engine, electrical, AC, tranny, rear end, suspension, interior, etc, etc...
DO NOT drive away from the shop until you look closely over the whole car (look for scratches and dings in paint) and the worked upon area!!!
I know I should have inspected the car, but I had a terrible day and walked 6 miles to pick it up (the best event of the day)...and it was hot and just wanted to get out of there. I haven't even looked at it since they put the wheels on Friday night. I will ask Sean at OC Corvette to give it a good check up. I won't have time to check it out other than wash it maybe when I get back into town. Better NOT be any nicks and scratches on it, though... I made them refund me $200 for their lousy install job.
If I lower the car, will there be any performance issues if I decide to autoX?
1) Lowering a vette on stock bolts is so easy I would think many forum members (me included) would be willing to lend at hand....just host a GTG. No reason to pay anyone to do it.
2) If you don't want to go that route......I would take it to OC Corvettes. You've already experienced Sean's outstanding service....it's always nice to build a history with a shop....you'll be treated well in the long run.
3) Shoreline Motoring is also an AWESOME shop. I took my GTO there for my fender rolling and was treated royally. Those guys are used to working with VERY HIGH $$$$ cars and will take very good care of you.
There's three options.....and you can't lose with any of the choices....

Where do you live? I've had quite a few sets of tires installed by a Tire Rack recommended shop in Irvine/Lake Forest called Service Specialist and they did a great job every time with my Vette and Jaguar
