Forged engine ???
Can anyone tell me approximately how much it would cost to put a forged engine into my vette? I have pretty much maxed out my LS1 engine and just wondering what I would have to do to add more power.

I told you you wouldn`t be able to hold out long!!
Actually, you could add Alky injection, up the boost a tad, upgrade the valve springs and run 550hp SAFELY on stock bottom end with the right tune. This is much cheaper that changing to a forged bottom end and should last at least 2-3 years, thus allowing you to save up for a forged bottom end.
Give Kushan at Excelsior Motorsports a call 619 454-7787
You may recall, I introduced you to him at the Vintage races on Coronado.

"MORE POWER!" Arrghh, Arrghh.
I love this woman! So much for the stigma of a petite blonde lady.
Catback $1200
CAI $450
Supercharger package $8,000 +
To see the look on that teenager driver of a riced out civic as she lights up the rear tires from a stop and leaves him in the smoke...
Priceless, completely Priceless.
Like I'm one to talk. I've caught myself thinking about heads and cam packages...

You were right, RTR - on both counts. You just can never have enough boost and Kushan is a great guy. He has already helped me with my gauges. I will definitely talk to him about the mods you mention above.
So glad to hear I can safely get more power out of my LS1 engine. Someone just told me a ballpark figure for a forged engine so I will have to financially recover from the blower and Z06 diff before even considering another big investment in my vette.
You know, none of this is my fault - I have been unduely influenced by brothers all my life. My mother even has a picture of me when I was 3yrs old in a dirt pile playing with my brother's dump truck.
Go figure!
Thanks again, everyone! Hey Ted, guess I will have to change either my license plate or put some kind of qualifying remark on my license plate frame.

Will,
You are so funny! Yup, it is priceless and when conditions allow, I never get tired of smokin some young guy off the line at a red light.
Unfortunately, hubbie is usually screaming himself blue in the face when I am doing it and that kind of ruins my fun - ya know what I mean . . . besides he says if I keep it up and he keeps screaming he will have to go back in to have his hernia repaired.
Oh how can that possibly be my fault!
Take care.

although i do not know what blower kit, or what size blower you are running, you could just lower compression (6.0l heads), run methanol, and up the boost, and make close to 600 rwhp or more. or you can go the safe route , although more expensive, and build a forged stroker motor. i would suggest 402 stroker (ls2 block with 4in" crank), it would be the most economical stroker outside a basic 383 stroker ( your stock block with a 4 in" stroke crank). i also do not know what size blower you are running right now, but even if this is a standard blower option, you may not make much more HP, but the area under the curve would be much more substantialas well as a lot more torque and if you decide to upgrade to a larger blower unit, you can easily make upwards of 750rwhp or more depending on boost and octane level. if you have any questions just gie me a call

Thanks for taking the time to post this info. I definitely want to go the safe route, but right now everything is sounding way too expensive for me to do anything in the immediate future. Guess I'll just have to stay happy with what I have for a while.

Thanks again.
bottom end done right can be anywhere from 4-8k. Pending parts.
