This sounds like not only fun, but a great way to honor those who gave their lives in the name of freedom for our country. I've added my name to the list, and hope to see some other west coasters as well...:) This could be bigger than the hot rod power tour...:)

I'd like to propose a July 4th event for the forum.
I'd like to see if we could carry the Stars and Stripes ( a 3 x 5 on a mini flag pole protruding up and out of our Vettes) from California to the WTC.

Forum members would hand off the flag every 50 miles or so. If we drove about 500 miles a day, in daylight, and starting on Saturday June 29, we could be at the WTC on Thursday July 4th

I'm sure that there would always be a caravan of Vettes with the flag carrier

What do you think????

I'd be happy to start coordinations if you folks are game.

AlwaysWave,

I believe all Pacific Event Coordinators will be working on this one. This will be an event everyone in the West Coast region can participate in if they wish!

The "Stars & Stripes to WTC" trip is now anticipated to begin June 26, 2002 at the US/Canadian border in Washington State. It will travel down Interstate 5 through Washington and Oregon. The flag will then be transferred to California Forum members at the OR/CA border and be taken across the Golden Gate Bridge to began its journey east from San Francisco to the WTC. It will arrive in NYC by the 4th of July.

Members can help escort the flag for short distances or all the way to NY. Its routing and scheduling will be announced everywhere. The July event is still many months away so stay tuned...

Individual Forum members, Corvette clubs and organizations will all be invited to join in the caravans along the way....
