Default Anyone Local w/ a Code Reader?

I left Carlsbad this morning and my check engine light came on. The car ran a little rough at idle for a minute and then staightend out but the light has stayed on after a couple starts. I stopped by the dealer, since it's right there, and the female service writer gave me a bunch of BS so I blew her off. I know if my writer had been on he would have just plugged it in and read me the code. I just want to read the code and clear it.

Anyone?

Well, I forgot my best friend has an OBDII scanner program loaded on his Blackberry! How cool is that? Anyway, when I started the car to go over the light was out but we read a P0121 in history, which I cleared.

My Helms manual describes the P0121 as Throttle Position Sensor 1 Perfomance. Is relates to a number of things but it does reference problems in the Throttle Body with the blade, shaft or other damage. It also says that it is often accompanied by a code P0068, Throttle Body Airflow Performance. That code is accompanied by a reduction in power and a message on the DIC saying Reduce Engine Power Mode. I DID NOT get this message, a reduction in power or did the scanner read this code.

I did have my TB ported about 6 months ago but no problems up until now.

Im going to monitor it and see if it was a fluke deal.

Any other thoughts on this?

Thanks

I dont if it can be done on all C5's, but if a check engine light comes on u can check them using your information center. Check this link.....

Sure, I can definitely get you the information. I do know it runs about $250 with cables. I'll ask him today and report back. It is pretty impressive softward. It even did some graphing and scaling right on his blackberry. I don't think it will log but as an example he had me slowly press the excellerator and we watched a nice graph show a linear progression as I pressed and let off. There was also a feature that showed numerically as I did the same thing. We were looking for a break.

That was all besides just reading and clearing the code. Oh, it also provided the description of the code which matched my C6 Helms manual's specific description.

Sh*t Clint, they're all hand held phone thingies to me man. I don't know what the heck it is. I have a cell phone, I use it to make and receive calls. That is all it does. I can verify it if you need me to. Otherwise, he can show it to you Saturday if you're coming down. I think he'll be my passenger again this week.

Yeah, I was wondering the same thing. Being able to use it with a phone would be great. Having to use it with a Palm I might as well just keep the good code reader that I have now.

Well, if this helps you figure out which one it is ... he makes phone calls on it. So, doesn't a palm make phone calls? If not, it's a Blackberry, which I think is what he told me. So maybe the web site just calls it palm technology.

Don't you play any games on it too? Come on now Paul, you've got to learn how to multi-task!! If it don't play games, it ain't no good. At least that's the way my sons viewed a cell phone when they were much younger.

Palms don't make calls that I am aware of. Maybe you can get more details on how your buddy is using it and let us in on it.

Thanks!!
