Default Tires?

Hello. As some of you saw on my C5Z, I need new tires. My factory Eagle F1's are pretty much done. I want to get a set of really nice, sticky tires for the car to really help it handle. So my question is, what do you guys recommend? I have seen a few sets for sale and just wanted to get some feedback before I commit. Thanks.

Which do you think is better for the front? A set of BFGoodrich G-Force Sport
or Nitto 555's?

Front? You are not buy all four tires? If you choose Nitto's get the NT-01's they are great tire too. I have a set of BFG KDW on the rear of my car and they are an OK tire.

Yea there is a guy on here selling a set of fronts. I figure i will just buy in pieces and collect a whole set. That way maybe I can save a few hundred bucks vs. buying a whole set new.

If they are still available, full tread Toyo RA-1 are the best street tire you can buy. They are actually R-compound tires, but just ignore the "recommended for competition only" on the side. I have the second set on my daily driver Evo. These tires have 27,000 street miles on them and have never seen a racetrack. I think they will make it to 30,000. They stick like crazy.

Don't get R-888. They are horrible on track and would probably last about 5 minutes on the street.

Given your intended use and based on feedback from our fairly sizable group.....you can`t go wrong with either the Nitto 555 or Toyo RA1

Well how do those tires compare against the one's I've suggested? Then of course, where do i get these? Discount doesnt seem to have too many options in our sizes.

They are way more extreme. If you want a street tire a little better then your Supercars the KDW's would be the way to go. There not awesome but really great bang for the $$$$

What do you mean by "extreame"? Do you mean they wear fast or have poor ride quality? I want a good tire that is going to stick well. I didnt buy a Z06 just because it looked good.

There are a few of my friends that run groved road race tires such as Hoosier R6's treadwear rating of 40. They wear out pretty quickly on the street but by far the best grip

Then you get into the Competition /Borderline street tires.
Nitto Nt01's
Toyo Ra's these are on my car right now!
Toyo R888
Which will be very sticky and there tread wear rating is 100

After that you have tires with tread wear rating of 160+ Most over 200
Pzero's super expensive but great for street come on many exotics
Nitto Invo's. I've never had them but many of my friends swear by them
Pilot Sport 2's I like them but don't love them for the $$$$

The Goodyear Supercars that came on your C5 when there new there pretty good but as they wear out watch out. Remember the magazines did pull 1.0g with them

I would rate the KDW in above average range. They will probley stick better then your used GY's. There about the same as the S03 Bridgestones.

I am sure I left good performing tire out but I've had experiance with the ones above and the other I had aren't worth even mentioning if you want performance.

I've been through a ton of tires. I am on my 13th vette 2 C6's 9 C5's and 2 C4's.

Here's a question to think about. Do you daily drive your Z06 and how often do you expect to replace worn out tires.

Remember a lot of the corvettes on the forum are weekend cars. Their tires don't see a lot of mileage and the high wear tires last longer than if they were a daily driver.

No i dont daily the Vette. My Z06 is a weekend car. So treadwear isnt a huge issue, but something more than 12k miles might be nice. But if push-comes-to-shove, I'll go with a low tread wear tire that performes great.

Well, they haven't been mentioned but I have liked my Michelin PS2's, FWIW.
