Default Varmits at NHRA Testing

Each year when the Varmits go to Vegas for SEMA, we take in the NHRA Monday testing session at the LV Motor Speedway. This year Roger, Benny, Link and Earl were there. A few shots, more to follow.

Cannot get any closer other than getting in the car. I would suggest this to anyone who likes drag racing. Complete access to drivers, crew and engineers on the cars as they come up to stage. I was standing right next to Austin Coil as Force wass pulling up to the tree. Standing at the tree when they blast out of there. Unbelieveable!!!!!

Looks like at great strip to go to. I would love to go there some day.

After this trip, I am officially a Robert Hight fan. We caught him putting the beer on ice for his crew. He joked around with us a little. When the Force team was all done with their runs, he told me he had to go lead Mike Neff (that's Mike in the white shirt, last photo) back to the pits. He said that he'd like to drive a Vette, but under his job conditions he can't. Hight, a totally nice guy.

The Cruz Pedregon run, right after the burnout photo, took me a little by surprise. I was a little too close and directly lined-up with the headers. I got a BIG surprise, the blast almost knocked me down. I forgot to push the button. On John's and Ashley's runs later I did get the shot.

Mike, keep in mind that when you actually go to a NHRA race you will not be where we were in these pictures. You'll be behind the fence in the grandstand. Only the Varmit Road Crew knows how to get up close and personal. There were a few other spectators there, but they were all behind the fence.
