I have a set of LG LT headers that are still new and not yet installed. I am considering having them coated. These will be going on a dd car so kind of leaning towards possible overkill on heat issues (FI is coming soon).
Is there anyone local that someone can recommend for this process? Or am I stuck sending it off to AZ/OK?
You live in Lakewood? I used to live there, now I live in Long Beach.
Well as for ceramic coating, I used Embee Performance to coat my headers. Along with doing the outside, they also do the inside. Here's their contact info

How well do the powder coated headers do with heat? Has anyone ever done a comparison?
A little further, but I used Olympic Coatings in Escondido (North San Diego County). Really good quality...they used to do all the coatings for JBA until JBA started sending stuff to Mexico to cut costs.
I had a set of headers ceramic coated (aluminum look) and my full exhaust (from headers to X-pipe to mufflers) ceramic coated a matte black for my 66 Mustang restomod by Specialized Powder Coating in Huntington Beach several years ago. They did an excellent job and the coating has lasted many years. I also use them all the time for powder coating work (most recently a set of split spoke wheels for my 08) as they do an awesome job.

I had mine done at a place in Anaheim several years ago. They specialized in Formula cars. They only do the outside and as far as they can reach in from the outside, but it has held up very well over the years and still looks like new.
Embee is as good as any, better than some. They coated a pair of cheapo FleaBay headers for a Rustang GT 5.0 in my wife's '55 Nash Rambler. Still look great after 4-5 years.
The ceramic coating greatly helps contain the heat, increasing thermal efficiency, hence performance, How much? Dunno. Header heat is greater than the stock system, which melted some underhood plastic on my '84; not an issue with either wrap or ceramic. I've done both and the latter is much preferred for ease, appearance, longevity and lesser thickness that does not affect any other components.
There might be some powder coatings that work, but the ceramic component is key to the above.
My SOTP meter registered a surprising difference when I wrapped that first set of headers. I'll never have headers again w/o a good ceramic coating.

I got my coating though Jet-Hot, its a little expensive up front but they come with life time warranty so its good to know its there. Plug my experience with exhaust wrap is it falling apart because of rough environments, so far ceramic coating is holding up alot better.
