I've been home for a while, but went out to eat with the wife, then walked the dogs...

I put in 3 good sessions, and drove home in one piece!

Headed to Fantasy Springs tomorrow, so give me a minute to get video up...

The Corvette boys had a long download with the pesky Miata boys, and it almost got Physical!!

We had mark there for that. It took 3 of us to hold back Joel.

I just saw the video clip from the Miata of the event in question. It did not look like a big deal at all to me. In fact, it just looked like a normal red group pass of a high HP car over a lower HP car, albeit a bit late in the brake zone... but no big deal.

No. It is not that. I know the driver of the Miata very very well. I drove on his race team at the 2012 Thunderhill 25 Hour Race. We campaigned four cars. One broke, one won, and I think the other two got third and fourth as I recall.

Before you call it V8 envy, he also has a C6 Z06. He is quite the driver, more so than you can imagine.

Yeah he is kinda the "guy" when you ask about fast miata drivers or just fast people in general. People try and compare themselves to him because well...he is fast a ****.

You weren't there during the morning drivers meeting when he said that he was going to "dive bomb" drivers in a corner if he had to. I didn't even see what he did on the track, but his buddy thought his miata was an off road vehicle.

I have to agree. Somebody has to explain why the vette guys are having problems with miatas.

Any good Miata driver that knows how to get 10/10ths out of the car is going to stick two off on corner exit on a frequent basis. If you are driving a 2012 and prior spec'd T1 Corvette you will do the same thing, just with four extra cylinders.

I don't race a Miata, but I do know the frustration of trying to pass a higher horsepower car with a lower one. I might race T1 and GT2, but I have had issue trying to get around GT1, ST1 and other higher horsepower classed cars. The only chance is to get in close in tight sections early and make the pass so some gap can be created before the next long straight.

With that all said, it is the job of the over-taking car to pass safely. If anyone doing the passing did not like what happened the burden is on the over-taking driver. That is how it is in SCCA and NASA competition rule books and that is how it is in HPDE. The Corvettes have plenty of power so those drivers should be able to name the spot on the track where they want to pass.

Seriously...SV Red Group drivers are complaining about a Miata following too closely after a pass or being DISTRACTED by a car they just overtook.....I just read the naughty Miata driver's post at TrackHQ and watched his incar....while I usually lurk in these threads...I just can't believe what I'm reading here
