San Diego: Anyone specialize in lacquer paint restoration?
The paint on my 61 is original. It's in overall decent condition, but has some tough areas and 'issues'.
I'd like to find someone with experience in restoring 50+ year old lacquer paint. I don't want someone getting on-the-job experience on my 1-owner, 54 year old car! I'm looking for someone with a record (referrals, etc.) of doing this exact thing.
Thanks for any leads.

There is a huge car industry/hobby in Arizona, like Lake Havasu, for reasons obvious to those in Cali, except those in SAC.

Thanks for the responses guys.. I'm not looking to re-paint the car with lacquer.. Rather looking for someone to remove the top layer and 'fix up' the minor problems. I saw a segment on the TV show "Fantom Works" with a 50's era Mercedes (also white). The owner wanted to keep the paint original.. but they did an amazing job (using abrasive compounds, and blending of minor repair areas, etc.) of renewing the paint. I've read quite a bit about the process but I think it would be best to use someone with experience as the main concern is cutting through the paint.

When working for an Olds dealer (about 100 years ago) I saw a burgundy Buick, badly faded, get polished out. It looked great, for about 10 days.
There may be some treatments that restore the aromatics to the paint, those that baked out by the sun. I wish you well in your search and will keep my ears alert.
