The Block of Orange is not cancelled. It says that the cruise route to Mt. Baldy is.

Please read all the above posts. As of now the two possible roads that we take to Mt. Baldy are closed and could close, hence we're going to try to continue last month's cruise.

So, we are going to try the Ortega route again. Since last month we encountered a fatality half way up the hill.

Thanks for inquiring and let's keep our fingers crossed about rain on Sunday.

IF THERE IS RAIN SCHEDULED FOR SUNDAY...THEN, PLEASE CHECK THIS THREAD TO SEE IF OUR CRUISE IS CANCELLED.

Greetings, all, I'm a newcomer who recently swapped a C2 for a C7 with a fellow forum member. This is my first chance to take it on a long cruise, so looking forward to the trip and to meeting y'all. I'll be happy to bring up the rear; I'll just pretend I'm driving the C2 327/300 auto 2-speed Powerglide -Fred

No rear for you! We like to put the newbys in the middle so they don't get lost.

Looking at the weather map, looks like today will be a GO.
Juat in case my weather is wrong, watch for updates if there is a change.

, like yesterday, I suspect any rain will be late in the day, widely scattered and north and northeast of the mountains!

This is the view of Doc's car he likes to show others:

#3 in line, Santiago Canyon.

Sparky, really nice relaxing cruise through the canyons and hills today. The photo is in the shadows but it was already warming up. Thankfully no rain as predicted today either.

Thanks, Sparky and Pat for a great outing; my brother and I enjoyed meeting you and everyone else and cruising to Tom's Farms. How many months until I get promoted out of "newbie" status? -Fred (yes, I admit I was the one in the blue convertible who put the top UP when the temp started climbing

Fred, you lost your newbie status today. Nice ZO. Even with top up.

The newbies will buy the donuts, in return for getting a pit stop that actually has a "pit stop." (some of us filled up on coffee before the meet-up - I guess that's why we're newbies)

Newebies have to learn the hard way. Don't drink coffee before a run, unless you know there is a potty at a pit stop.

Gee, I know my storage capacity but add a predeparture preventive pit as close to as possible. I MUST have a serum octane boost prior to ANY day!

Always great to meet new faces and SO cool to have those from SD, The Valley or foothills make the trek!
Even cooler when wives/family/friends join in.

Maybe October we can do the Mt. Baldy run if any of the roads are open.

I think I've figured out some guidelines for fellow newbies that I can share:
*bring donuts;
*don't drink coffee beforehand (you or your passenger - trust me, I learned this the hard way);
*prepare not to Lead, or bring up the Rear, but to be stuck in the middle of the convoy;
*the Pit Stops are usually one block away from a restroom;
*make sure you can back your Vette into a parking spot precisely between the lines on the first try;
*prepare to enjoy the experience so much you can't wait till the next month.

Did I miss anything? -Fred (newbie emeritus?)
