Pomona - a good place to buy cars?
Haven’t been there yet, hence no experience.
Looking to to buy late model C3s or maybe a C3 vert - or even a Gen1 pony.
Would I be better off looking all over LA and the outskirts or is the swap meet a place where one can find ok cars?
I am looking for reasonable priced cars, not top dollar, no projects and definitely no overpriced junk.

Yes. My buddy and his dad have bought plenty of cars there over the years. They don't overpay for anything, so as long as the seller is realistic and willing to negotiate, deals can be made. Anything from project cars to turn key...here's his most recent purchase earlier this year:

If you mean a swap meet in Pomona, it's called George Cross & Sons POMONA SWAP MEET & CLASSIC CAR SHOW since 1975. It's held 7 times a year and features 1000s of cars. I'd say almost 1/2 or better are for sale.
The Car Corrals are: CLASSIC CARS & TRUCKS; STREET RODS; VOLKSWAGENS; PORSCHES; MODERN MUSCLE (Camaros, Challengers and "Mustangs") and of course CORVETTES!!!
The next show is OCTOBER 14TH. $25 to park your 'vette and enter in the Corvette Corral, or $12 to park your steel car in General parking and $10 to get in.
I work in the Corvette Corral and I will graciously help you park your 'vette and answer any questions you have about the show.
Show opens at 5 AM on Sunday until 2 PM, but you can get there after 8 AM on Saturday, the day before, if you want to park your 'vette overnight.
Hope to see you there!

You have to rent a space to sell your parts. One side is the swap meet and the other side is cars only. Please visit their wed site for pricing of spaces and size of space.
Hope to see you there!

It´s been nearly half a year since I went, hence this is a very reflected view, nevertheless only my own humble opinion: not worth going to buy cars.
Been there from when they opened up at like 5 am to, say, noon or 1 pm. Lots of overpriced vehicles. Example: a '70 Chevelle Malibu in good to very good condition for 50k (read: fiftythousend!) $, non-negotiable. Old lady´s car, only went to church with it on Sundays - yeah, right. A '85 C10 Shortbed Stepside, repainted and ok condition, for 9,5k$. Would have been in the ballpark, but the guy was ready to sell it for 8,25k the night before. Both sellers took there cars home. A '67 Mustang, repainted with the rust coming thru again everywhere, with lots of details to be taken care of for 16k - went to Austria (those guys seem to buy everything). A '76 C3 with a fresh, superficially good looking light blue paint job (which turned out to be a 2k back yard job with lots of overspray) with an obviously bent frame or heavily missaligned front end (wheels rubbing) for 16k (13 after negotiation). The Corvette bunch only showed up at like 10 or 11 am, few ars for sale, mostly C5s, C6s.
Not very successfull for me when it comes to buy cars, won´t go again.
I spent four additional day in the area and saw about a good dozen down to nearly San Diego. Man, have prices picked up! No matter if 76-82 C3s between 11k and 13k or 1st Gen Mustangs for 11k to 16k: all project cars! And people don´t aknowledge this, they all think they have gold...

Good place to go for parts, most cars for sale are flippers wanting top $ or unloading junk. Once in awhile youll score but not often (on cars)
Sellers hope some foreigner will show up paying a fortune to export their ride;CL is worse!! try forums where you find a long time owner or post a WTB ad in the SoCal section
havent been in over 15 yrs last 2x I had parts stolen off my car, too many gangbangers ruining things. Long Beach was sparse...
