c5ragtop,
I heard that if you own a C5 coupe they will let you drive the C5R ... but if you own a vert, you have to talk to the guys driving it over the headset.
By the way, in the photo size contest between you and jetskifast ... sorry Jim his is bigger (didn't say better, just bigger)

The Viper Club of America is having its annual Western Zone Rendezvous in Monterey that weekend with the finale being the Sears Point race. Should be around a 100 snakes, I'll have to check into if we get a parade lap.

SoCal Rebell,
Year before last at the ALMS race in Las Vegas there was a good showing of Snakes but they would only let the Corvette's on the parade lap. I think they said something about a dependability issue and having pick up the Viper parts that fall off the snakes.
Look forward to seeing your group at Sears Point, I'd love to see that Caravan driving North .you should turn a few heads for sure.

cricket,
I downsized my photo a little. Word was that it was hogging the download time for some people. But, you are right. Better verus bigger is what you want. I'll see you at Sears Point.

Jetskifast,
I'll be going all three days. On Friday I plan on getting a early start and run around the pits and checkout the cars. Chaz Cone ( http://www.chazcone.com/corvette/ ) is coming in around noon at SFO and I was thinking of asking him if he'd like to make a run to the coast in the late afternoon.
I'll call him today and see what he has scheduled for for Friday.

CALVette,
I won't be able to attend on Saturday as previously planned due to a prior commitment. I will, however, be there on Friday. Is anything going on that you're aware of relating to C5 stuff? If not, I'll at least get to watch some of the GTS practice. Thanks.

UPDATE
Due to a fully packed race schedule Sears Point Raceway has had to cancel the
Corvette Parade Lap scheduled for July 21, 2001.
Terry,
Was it last year you found your little doggie?

If your a corvetteforum member and a C5 Registry member not getting C5NET mail, you may have missed this information so I'll post it here.
Please note that the Event at Sears Point is a NCM event, ALL Corvette's are welcome and they don't have to be show cars. <smile>
The C5R dinner is the only part that is a C5 Registry event only.

c5ragtop,
I agree without a Corvette Parade Lap not much of a reason to go early Saturday other then tour around the pits. I plan on going all three days since its in my back yard.
Friday, I'll work (be at the offic) half a day then hang round the the track until about 4PM at which time I'll head over to the coast for a little road tour and dinner at Tony's.
Saturday no Parade lap so I'll go out to breakfast and get to the track around noon to watch the GTS/GT qualifying. Then over to Kevins house for dinner.
Sunday should be at the track around 10AM and will stay until they throw me out.

Jim,
I can tell you that when the Sacramento group shows up the place takes notice. I just hope the C5-R's can out run the Saleen and Vipers in a short race.

"A Corvette Corral autograph session will take place from 10-10:30 AM on
Sunday, July 22 at Sears Point.
Participants will be C5R ALMS Drivers, Speed Vision Challenge Drivers and
hopefully Trans Am will also be represented there."
I'll be taking my C5-R models to get signed by Andy and Ron for sure.
