Default Houston Mod day details - Sat 8-18

Looks like Saturday the 18th is it. A few good guys can't make that, so we'll have to schedule another one next month.

I'd like to have at my house in the Clear Lake area starting about 10:30 or 11:00 am (I'm flexible on time if any other preferences - JWS is the limiting factor as I hear he's not a morning person). There are some really good roads within 5 minutes of my house for any "testing" that needs to be done also. My friend with the '02 Z06 plans to be here if the car is here (was shipped two weeks ago!). If you drool over his car enough, he might take you for a ride.

Please post if you plan to come, and any mods (I got JWS for sway bars). I'll e-mail directions to all planning to attend. If we finish up early enough, I live about 5 minutes from the Kemah Waterfront - we can go down for a few brews. My wife is planning to be out of town for the weekend - I guess she either really doesn't trust you guys, or really does! Anyway, anyone want to hang out for dinner afterwards and go to the Cruise-in in Pasadena?

By the way, my wife WILL make both a pecan pie and carrot cake before she leaves. :D :D

Sounds like a deal Neal! I just ordered my Corsa system and should be here this week, also I have a thermostat and IAT re-locate install to do. If that's too much for one day, I'd like to at least get the exhaust installed. BTW, I've got two new Craftsman torque wrenches I can bring in case anyone needs to borrow it/them (one 1/2" and one 3/8" drive). Let me know if I need to bring some more tools, I'll be glad to. :D:D

I'm glad to see more responses. I'm available to start earlier so we can get more done. I plan to dedicate the whole day to filling up my driveway with Corvettes.

On the exhaust. The stock exhaust may have to be cut off if we try to do it without a lift. It's not impossible to get it up high enough on jacks, but its really scary looking and will take more jacks than I have. Anyone with input on this, please respond. We can cut it if that's what you want to do.

I have one hydraulic floor jack, and boards to get us up in the air, and standard type jack stands (4). Let's make sure we are getting all the equipment we might need.

Think it will go high enough if I back it onto my Rhino ramps? BTW, I dont mind cutting stock pipes if I have to. BTW, how many for Heineken? :D

I hacksawed my stock exhaust off. Couldn't get the car high enough without a lift. Too scary as Jim says and you need a really high lift jack which I didn't have. Used a Sharpie marker pen to put some "line up" marks on the pipes before cutting for future welding. No big deal. Had my SLP cat-back on and lined up in about an hour.

Jim, What can I bring?

tx99FRC - I'm not much of a beer drinker - hope I don't get kicked off the forum. I might have one later in the day. I'll have plenty water & soft drinks, so bring beer for others. I have cutting equipment to cut pipes & a sharpe pen!

Houston Z Man - Don't know what you need to bring - what you got? Has anyone ordered one of those low profile jacks Dark Mercury was working on? I never did order one. Don't know if I will or not. I'm thinking if I drive my car up on the 2x12's I've got, I'll have no problem using the floor jack I have now and save $250.

I have a bunch of decals ordered for engine compartment and "air bag" emblems. Some easy stuff we can do to my car. By the way, I also have four "jacking pucks" on order that should be here in time. :hat

Does anyone in the Houston area have an Auto Tap? This would be a neat thing to have at Mod Day.

Just got my AutoTap last week. Was planning to bring it. Hoping to have my MAF Translator by then too.

jschindler,

I'll definately be there. I think I've done all the mods I'm going to do for a while, but I don't mind helping out with whatever needs to be done.

Thanks for hosting this mod day. I've done 3 of them and they are a lot of fun. Only down side is cleaning up when it's over.

So what mods are you thinking for Mod day?

Easy stuff for me. Replace Fog bulbs with 55 watt'ers and aim, MAF ends if I get my MAFT (bringing AutoTap if anyone wants a scan)

jschindler, slight change in plans. I couldn't wait and put the Z51 bars on yesterday. I should still be able to make it out though.

One the agenda that I know of: Corsa Exhaust & possible thermostat, MAF ends, AutoTap demonstration, ??? Still planning for my friends 02 Z06 to be here - lots of demo rides in it, beer drinking at Kemah. Not sure what else. I have lot's of interior and engine compartment decals on order. Might need to put them on. also, might paint my calipers - depending on time. Anyone need to wax/detail car - nows the time to do in in A/C comfort. I figure with 6 or seven guys, we can detail a car in about 15 minutes each!

Did I mentioned we can always go to Kemah and sit out at a bar?

Ready for Mod day. Had rschiltz and my friend with the 02 Z06 over yesterday (and a guy with a 69 427/435hp). Yes, the new Z06 will be here. Rick won't be able to make it for Mod day, so we had a mini-mod day yesterday. All systems are go! They all approved of the A/C'd garage.

I'll send out e-mails later today with directions to my house to anyone "signed up" If you plan to come and don't get directions, send me an e-mail at jschindler@houston.rr.com. I'll also give ya'll my phone numbers in case you have a problem getting here. I'll probably post on houvette later today or tomorrow, not sure if I have my password at home. :D
