That's a Sunday right? I'll be there. Will bring the C5. If I can get someone to help, might bring the other cars too. Email me if you are currently Vetteless and want to help out.

I'm looking forward to the show. Sam Houston Corvette Club always puts on first class shows.
One question though. What is the difference between the modified and custom classes?

John, I guess my one cent worth is any car with changed/modified body parts or custom paint is considered custom. Folks with painted interior trim or engine compartment pieces, decal, etc would be considered modified. Otherwise how do you break out the pure stock cars from ones with the types of changes above?
I’m not going to tell SHCC how to class or run a show, I feel that I have no right to tell you guys how to do it. My past experience is that SHCC puts on a top notch show and every club does their show a bit different, why, as a non-member, should I give unsolicited opinions on something that works? But as long as you asked, typically in bigger show outside of Houston I have attended I seen classes as follows:
Wash & Show – Judged with hood closed and windows down (basically bone stock, maybe a front and rear decal or air bag decals).
Show & Shine – Judged with hood open no more than four modifications (chrome engine parts are one, painted engine parts are one, decals are one, painted interior parts are one, different wheels, etc, etc,)
Modified – More than five changes
Custom – More than five changes, different body panel(s), additional/custom paint, changed or modified engines.
Race – Race cars
One of the reason I like this is the folks with mostly bone stock cars compete against very similar cars. Most folks with Vettes don’t spend the money we have in our car, they just like to do a show now and then with the rest of the club members and they don’t want to have to compete against cars with mods.
Now as I said previously, SHCC has put on great shows in the past, I would never consider changing the way you guys do it for the upcoming show, but maybe in the future. Additionally, your shows are friends choice and the classes I indicated assume judges. Just my opinion.

Gee John nothing like asking for an opinion and when it doesn't conform to yours you get defensive! From now on I'll keep my opinions to myself when you ask. :cry

JW, I guess you'll actually be in the custom class as you have more than one body mod. I believe that the RK Sport gills are cosidered a body mod. Man, that's too bad as I was really looking forward to being in your class. :D Oh well, you'll have plenty of competition with Snowman and Lawdog.

1st place, 2nd place, 3rd place, no place, it's all the same to me (besides, I'm running out of room for trophies). I just have fun at the shows. It's not the trophy that matters, it's spending time with other car nuts that I enjoy.
My car is 1st place to me which is what really matters the most. See you at the show.
