Nilla Ice,
Our Drag Racing Committee has debated over the rules and changed them several times before deciding on a set of guidelines that we felt were managable for us to administer while at the same time level the field as much as possible. Yes we realize there are certain areas that require your car to be smog checked, and many of us live in those areas too. The main purpose of the inspection and insurance requirement is to eliminate the true race cars. We want this event to be as if you lined up on the street against one another, hence the name Fastest "Street" Vette.
Hope to se you out there!

Re: Coming Soon "Fastest Street Vette In Texas IV" (Snowman)
The event was originally scheduled for Sept 8th, but due to a scheduling conflict with the Texas Motorplex, we were asked to move the event back to Nov. 3rd. So the new date for the Corvette Showdown "Fastest Street Vette in Texas Shootout" is NOVEMBER 3, 2001.
I hope to see all of you there, as I would like to keep having these events and more in the near future. Also if anyone has any ideas for future events please let us know as we will start planning the events for the 2002 year in the next couple of months.

Re: Coming Soon "Fastest Street Vette In Texas IV" (thefly)
That was one of those events that we had scheduled but was cancelled due to the track having the "Street Nights" overrun the normal test and tune nights. We will have to se what the schedule at the track looks like for next year. We hope to be able to continue our "club challenges" like we have been doing for the last couple of years.

They had 52 Corvettes at the Corvette challenge in NJ last weekend. I think it is time Texas took back the Corvette Drag Racing Crown. We probably need to meet with Ennis management this winter and see what can be worked out that is attractive to the racers and track. We should have a 100 Vettes at these events.

If anyone has any information on the contacts for Vette Magazine, or Corvette Magazine Online, pless pass them along as we are trying to get an article written about the event.
Once again, this is the 4th year of this event and every year it has been growing!

Re: Coming Soon "Fastest Street Vette In Texas IV"
Over the past three years the final in the heads up class has always been something to remember.
1998 – we only had a quick 16 class with 18 cars out to qualify
Joel Perez 1992 Yellow LT1 10.??
SW 1995 Red LPE 383 LT1 10.??
Joel won by just a hair at the finish line.
1999 – we only had a quick 16 class with 26 cars out to qualify
David Stone 1992 Supercharged LT1 10.877 @ 129 mph (ET Streets)
John Sims 1994 Supercharged LT1 11.582@ 129 mph (Drag Radials)
David won by over 7 tenth of a second.
2000 – we rented the track for two quick 8 class (heads up) and three bracket classes, we had 54 cars.
Ultimate Street Quick 8
Le Grand Kirby 1997 Red LS1 11.536 @ 123 mph (ET Street)
John Garzonie 1997 Red MTI 383 LS1 11.082@129 mph (ET Street)
Le Grand (11.23?) won the race when John (11.4) red lighted
True Street Quick 8
William McCook driving SW old 1995 Red LPE 383 LT1 12.654 @124 mph
SW 1998 MTI Red 383 LS1 12.495 @ 130 mph
SW won by .003 now that is a close race
These past three years have been a blast to see and race in. I am looking forward to this year’s event. So remember even if your not the fastest car on the planet you can still come race in one of the bracket classes, and see some of the baddest Vettes from all around the country race to see who is “The Fastest Street Vette in Texas”
