Default Austin, TX - Emissions Testing?

My move from CA to TX is final. Is anyone familiar with the emissions testing in the Austin area? Is it annual? I couldn't find any regulations regarding modifications to the engine. I have an '05 vert with a s/c 402. The supercharger is Vortech T Trim (does not have a CARB number). Do you think this will be a problem?

Thanks!

Default Emissions in Austin Area

Annual testing, For your newer car, they will just read out the car's computer for emissions.

Welcome to Austin.

It depends on which county your in. If you move southwest, Hays county, Dripping Springs area, then it is just a simple once a year inspection with out reading your computer. If you live in Travis County you will pay three times the normal cost and as stated above be hooked up to the DPS computer.
Look southwest, Dripping, Wimberley or Kyle area.

I live in travis county - can I go out to DR to get tested without being hooked to the computer or will they hook it up since I am in Travis?

Testing goes by your residence/mailing address, not where you test the car. All major City/County areas in Texas use the strict California testing.

I know several places you can get inspected regardless of your setup. If you can't find anyone post up here. Most shops here appreciate modified cars and will show you some sympathy.

You have to have your car inspected in a county that has the same or higher requirements as your county. You can not go to Hays county as it requires no emission test, YET, and is not hooked up to the computer, but I can go to Travis or Harris or Dallas but I have to go by their rules and pay the higher price. Your county is listed on your reg. tag that located in the left ft of your windshield. The computer feed is a direct link to the DPS computer to stop cheating as it gives them the serial no and any codes. If you car is less than 10 years old the only test for emmissions is turn the key on, if the red light for ems lights up and goes off when the car starts it passes. If over 10 years old it get a tail pipe test. If a real smart inspector see's no cat he will fail it as it might be a trap by DPS. Cars over 25 years old are exempt which is good for my 4 C 3's.
