Any suggestions on window tinters for my 07 Coupe?
Live in the DFW area, closer to Fort Worth.

Told me $269! Dealer wants $179. Decided to go with Artech based on forum recommendations - I'm willing to pay the extra for high quality.
I wanted a tint slightly lighter than standard. Don't like particularly dark windows. Artech had to order the film from local distributor. We verbally shook hands on the job and agreed that I'd come in tomorrow (Tues) afternoon to have it done.
Got home and there's a message on my answering machine - distributor is charging them more and they're passing it on to me - now a $300 job! Frankly, I think they should have told the distributor to pound it and lived up to the agreed price. No, we did not sign a written contract. My bad, I suppose, that I took someone's word as good.
For the forty clams I'm going to stick with them, again based on the recommendations of fellow forum members saying their work is really good. But I gotta tell ya - I'm not really happy about this so far. I will be hovering over the job and boy howdy it had better be damned good.

My first inclination was to do exactly what you said. After cooling out a bit, I've decided to go there tomorrow and talk with them. I still don't think it's right that you quote a customer a price and come to an agreement, then jack said customer for extra money.
I'll keep everyone posted.

When I walked in the mgr and I had what is ubiquitously called in the media "a serious and forthright conversation." Bottom line is that even though they didn't live up to their word, I live up to mine. The forty bucks didn't kill me (it did chap my phanny to no end) but my word is good. Some out there may flame me for this, but in my mind there's a time to walk and a time to live up to my agreements so I did that here. YMMV.
They special ordered the Madico tint that is very light in color as I didn't want a dark tint. We may someday move up north and I simply didn't want dark. They told me it wasn't easy to come by in Texas where everyone and their brother wants dark so instead of messing around trying to find someone who carried this tint I bit the bullet and went ahead and had them install the tinting.
Job came out pretty well. They told me that there would be some water bubbles remaining and to let it sit for a couple of weeks, then return and they would remove any trapped moisture. The dots weren't a real problem because the tint was lighter in color; I know this can be a problem with the darker tints.
Would I recommend them? NOT WITHOUT A WRITTEN CONTRACT PRIOR TO THE WORK!!! I made the mistake of thinking a handshake and an agreement would be honored. They do decent work, but GET IT IN WRITING FIRST!!
My thanks to those who took the time to give advice on this thread.

I'm kinda like you... i dont want a dark tint because i dont want to have problems seeing out at night, but yet, i also have a black car, and see through windows is a
The tinting came out really nice. It is not dark at all, but that Madico stuff really cuts down on the light energy transmitted into the interior. BIG difference in cabin comfort.
Although some places grind down the dots in the coupe's back window, this place did not. Too many pitfalls with that, one of which is scratching the glass. The tech who did the work did a good job covering the dots and there was just a little hazing/discoloring/whatever you'd like to call it up at the top over the dots. He told me to wait a few weeks to let the moisture dry and then bring it back for them to press the film into the dots. They said that because the tinting was relatively light, the film not initially sticking to the dots was not as noticeable.
Waited a couple of weeks and brought it back. The worked it over for about 15 minutes and it's durn near perfect. Covered the dots beautifully. They really did a good job. Which, for what I paid for it
is what they SHOULD have done! If you decide to go with Artech, make sure you have a proposal in writing before you allow them near your car. Otherwise, I'm pretty happy with the result.I'll try to get some pix up as soon as I can.

Ouch! Is that what it costs these days, or does that include the vette tax? I guess mine would be cheaper with a vert top.
