Unexpectedly found out Monday that my company had made a wrong decision in hiring a System Admin, when they should have hired a programmer that could do both, so they let me go as I'm not a programmer. If anyone knows anyone looking for a support specialist to a system admin, please let me know, because I need a job ASAP! Really, anything related to IT i'm interested in.

Please PM me for my resume.

I'm good with voip/networks/server hardware & software/anti virus and spam/backups and most importantly for an IT person, i'm good with people.

Edit:Imagine this thread having a much cooler subject than "[dfw]"

Good luck, man. Times are tough out there.

I hear ya! I started building websites full time, i was doing it on the side, but now, thats really all i have if i want to stay along the somewhat lines of IT. I could go contracting, but i dont like the stability there.

Im pretty certain that unless you sign a specific contract, all employment in Texas is "at will" meaning you can be terminated without any reason at all. I think the only recourse would be a case of clear bias or discrimination based on age, race or gender.. adn that can be hard to prove.

Good Luck Jeff...will keep an eye out for you. You might look at the contract-to-hire avenue. It can be pretty stable actually (3-12 month assignments) and provides income while you look for other opportunites.

That might be what I end up doing, but so far no one has been paying enough for a contract job. Hopefully something soon will pop up.
