The road southeast out of Palestine to Alderbranch was my favorite route to work the Vette when we lived there, although I never took it all the way to Rusk. Also, in the panhandle, Hwy 86 from Estelline to Tulia can be a real thrill and is scenic.

Some of the twisties in the Hill Country are littered with cattle crossings, and some of them are not in good condition. Ok if you're on a motorcycle and can cross on one side or another, not so good in a low sitting, wide vehicle. Been there, done that.
