Default Moving to Phoenix

Well we sold the house, now in the process of figuring out where to live in the Phoenix are. Can anyone give me a heads up on a inexpensive place to live while looking for a house? I plan on arriving in January and need a place to stay for at least a month. Looks like I will have to leave the Vette in Seattle until it stops snowing in the mountains!
Thanks for any help you can be. We do like the northern side of Phoenix.

Congrats on your move. Phoenix and the surrounding area is beautiful. What's funny is is that here in San Antonio, on most street corners you have a convenience store. In Phoenix, on EVERY corner is a retirement community and a golf course. And be sure to check out Rustlers Rooste at Baseline and I-10. Had good food last time I was there.

I would highly recommend the South East Valley (Tempe, Chandler, Awatukee, Parts of Mesa and Gilbert), or Scottsdale.

Tell us what you're looking for (access to shopping and dining? Airport? Lock and leave place? Land?) and I'll try to be more specific. If you haven't found a realtor yet I have several I can recommend.

We moved to Surprise 2 years ago now. Surprise is northwest valley. You can get a pretty nice home for the $ spent here. There is not a lot around here yet compared to the East valley, Gilbert, Chandler, Mesa, etc. The other side of that coin is Surprise is all new. Been built mostly in the last 10 years. Surprise does have a nice plan for the city when construction starts up again, someday. Oh, and very few trailer parks. Yes we have the Sun Cities and confused retirees trying to find there way. And yes they bump in to each other a lot . It is kind of humorous in a sick way. They usually are gone by April. Both sides of the valley see the snow birds though.

Go to the north side of the west valley like North Peoria, North Glendale, and even North Phoenix. Very pretty up there and not as pricey as Scottsdale or Paradise Valley. Go even further north up to Anthem, very pretty there too, just further away yet.

We recently joined http://suncountrycorvetteclub.com/ . Nice people with tons of things to do. They meet at Power Chevy on Bell road in Peoria.

If you need a realtor contact me privately and I can give you the info on the realtor we used. She is based in Cave Creek. Very happy with her. Two other couples we know have purchased through her as well.

You want to be in N Scottsdale. Thats where I live. Thats whats best. Unless you will be working a long way away.

Don't buy a house, the market will continue to go down. Lease a house or apartment for at least 1 year. I think the housing market will continune to drop for at least 2 years.

Yes, move to North Scottsdale if you can and rent for a bit. You might not like it here and you will not be able to sell easily. Deregulation policies in the Federal Government have made a big mess for sure.

What is the difference between these things?

1. a nagging wife
2. syphillus
3. a house in Arizona

you can be rid of the first two....

You will love it here. Over 250 car clubs in the valley including at least 8 vette clubs that I know about. Great car shows year round in the State and great roads to enjoy your vette. I moved here in '73 when the valley metro area just reached 1,000,000. Now its around 4,200,000. When you see all the great cars here you will swear there's a great car in every garage! This is truely car heaven!!

I like the North areas at least that is what my wife tells me! We will be looking at the Cave Creek area as we have seen a few house there via the internet that look intersting. My office will be in my house. I have a small business import/export and plain wholesale forest products.
I will be coming down late January to start looking for a house I will need a place for at least a month. We have a small dog so that limits us a bit. We are thinking of a extended stay although I really don't want to part with that type of money! If you have a brilliant idea I would like to hear it!

I will probably buy as I will have my father in law with me and he really is not up to moving more than once. I will be making low offers just to see what happens. I agree we will probably see some more price drops but hopefully not more than 20%. As long as I very little to no house payment im good!

Phoenix has interesting pockets of richer and poorer communities sometimes back to back. So you need someone who knows the area well when you actually buy your house. Cave Creek is too far north. You would be out in the sticks. We border Scottdale and Paradise Valley in North Central Phoenix. Its a nice area and has great access to the freeway system. If you like North Phoenix, you need to get slightly to the east. Here is a nice map link I found

http://www.phoenixvacationrentalhome...images/map.jpg

See the I 17 in the middle? Is represents approximately 27th Ave. Avenues are West and Street Are East. You need to be on the Streets side- East. North of Northern Ave, east of 32nd street in Phoenix. Tempe, Scottsdale, and Chandler are also nice areas
