So after a couple hours driving around town being referred from one muffler shop to the next I still have not found a shop that has the knowledge or equipment to bend a pipe. I currently have the magnaflow exhaust system with x- pipe and needless to say its a little on the quiet side. My goal for today was to have a shop bend a pipe that will go from the over axle pipe to the tips removing the mufflers entirely, but still be able to use the magnaflow exhaust clamps so that it can be interchanged with the mufflers (so NO welding). Has anyone here done this to their exhaust? if so maybe a picture of the install? Also anyone know of an muffler shop in dfw that is capable of this? Thanks in advance.
i've been wanting to do this for ages or at least have magnaflow fab the pipes. basically slip off your mufflers and slip on a pipe that is custom bent over the axle and utilizes the factory hangers and has a nice stainless dual tip the same diameter as OEM, so it appears stock until you romp on it. they would sell like hot cakes for $300-400
there are tons of options for a C5 but nothing for a C6:
Will a cat delete pipe work there? I am wanting this pipe to connect the tips to the over axle pipe.. and eliminate the magnaflow muffler but keep the tips.
I used Miller Muffler in Old Lewisville on Mill Street to fab up my chambered system. They were really, really good.
They custom fab all kinds of pipes for hot rods so I thought mine should be a no brainer. Tell them Jeff with the red 64 coupe sent ya!
This is the part I am looking to have made almost to the T. Boxed in red.
And thanks to Markrx for finding this pic.. Is this overaxle made for a c5? looks close to the c6 rear to me..

I have a set made for a C6 Z06. Just purchase a replacement cat back and cut out the mufflers. Add a set of aftermarket tips. A lot less work because there is not much bending involved.
Oh i see that might be a good idea. Do the cats on these cars really make that big of a difference when it comes to sound? And do you have any problems throwing codes or problems getting it inspected? ( ie will it pass emissions?)
