I got a speeding ticket in Elida New Mexico last weekend. (wasn't driving my car so I didn't have a radar detector)
Anyway, I'm a Texas resident.
The fine isn't too bad ($154 for 62 in a 35). I was thinking about just pay the fine instead of taking Defensive Driving, but didn't want to have my insurance rate jacked up or something else. Does an out of state ticket affect your Texas DL just like an in-state ticket?
I don't know how that works. I got a ticket in a speed trap in Louisiana and I called to talk to them about it and the lady said if I'd pay it she would 'keep it off my insurance'. Revenue for them (even tho it was a speed trap) but she kept her word and it did not affect my insurance. BUT, maybe it wouldnt have anyway??????
I got one in georgia a few years ago and I didnt think it would go on my record since it was out of state, but last time I got my driving record, it was on there. You may be able to easily get it taken off your record though.
I got a speeding ticket in Hope New Mexico many many years ago. I asked the LEO if I signed in the guilty line and paid the fine would it be reported to my insurance. He said "No, it won't". Boy was I naive!! It went onto my record and my insurance was raised because of it. However, I was a resident of New Mexico at the time. Can you ask for deferred adjudication (i.e. guility but put onto probation)?
depends on if the states talk to each other, some do some don't, I think nm and tx do but not sure......ask the question of state people in both states. ggod luck.
