Calling all stock c6 Zo6 owners. I have had trouble with engine noise long story short. I got new heads, cam, and lifters. However, I'm still hearing a clacking noise in the left side. The dealer "listened" to another z, and determined that the noise was normal, I disagreed left side is making the same noise as before. I would ask anyone who has a stock z, to let me and the dealer listen to it. Please give me a message. My name is Mark Mason, and Ilive in Gilbert Az. Thx in advance.

The stock Valvetrain on the LS6-LS7 is noisy,, sounds like a sewing machine, . Do you have headers?? Valvetrain noise is amplified through headers.. What type of lobe profile on the camshaft?. XER, XLR?. What type of springs are you using with the new set up? Ramp rates and different lobe profiles can really make for a VERY noisy valve train.. I was concerned with mine too, after I did all the bolt on modifications.. Its pretty loud on the inside of the car.. Not really that noticeable from the outside of the car.. A lot of the noise amplifies through the headers.. There are tons of threads on this issue... The more you read the more comfortable you will be... You just have to get used to it...
Update... took the z out for a lake run yesterday the noise has seemed to be less now, the engine is running strong. I believe I did'nt give enough time for the new heads to settle in. On the next oil change I'm going to open up the filter to see if there is anything that is not to be there. Thanks everyone I will update as I get more miles on the car.

Bet you just had a bad case of "latest mod" ear! I am sure you car is OK!
When I cammed my car, sometimes it makes more "clacks" while running than other times, get used to it, made me nervous as well!

Sorry, I had the impression you had aftermarket mods done..Why did the dealership replace everything.. Warranty issues?
