Albuquerque, New Mexico Hotel Recommendations
TheMrs. and I are road-tripping to Phoenix and Vegas in October.
We're thinking about overnighting in Albuquerque on the way back to East Texas.
Any recommendations for a nice hotel there with secure parking?
We've never stayed there before only blew through in the past.

The Sandia resort is on the North side- off route 25 I think - - -but it's a lovely place with good restaurants and more removed from many of the chithole hotels on the highway but pricey.
I bought a Vette in ABQ and drove to Phoenix last year - - about 6 hours via route 40 to Flagstaff and down I-17 if I recall correctly.
Safe travels.

I have been working in Albuquerque lately and been staying in a Marriot on i25. Its the Marriot Pyramid is the name. On priceline its been around 70 to 75 a night and a 3.5 star hotel. Fairly nice place, descent price but the hotel restaurant was nothing to try really. Its a big parking lot and in a decent part of town. Lots of restaurants on Paseo Del norte and in the area near the hotel.

I've lived in Albuquerque for nearly twenty five years, and echo the statements above. Sandia and Santa Ana casinos both have beautiful hotels on site, with secure parking. (Haven't been to the Santa Ana hotel, as it just opened a month or two ago.) If you want to be a little more secluded, check out the Tamaya Resort. 10 minutes north of Santa Ana Casino, and has beautiful views of the volcanic escarpements and the bosque. None are priced unreasonably.

There are a couple of nice B&B's in Corrales if you like that type of accommodation. The Tamaya is very nice but probably one of the pricier hotels in the metropolitan area. None of the places mentioned is terribly far "out of the way" from I-40, unless you think 10-15 miles is too much. If I can be of any other assistance, feel free to ask, and safe travels.
One other thing, you didn't mention when in October you were traveling, but Balloon Fiesta is Oct 6-14. Great opportunity to see a pretty cool event, but demand for accommodations will increase dramatically.

if you're driving westbound I40 through Albuquerque just keep going about 15 minutes west of the city and there is an indian casino called Route66 which also has a hotel.
its not a bad place to stay overnight and its not out of your way. Rt66 is also outside of the city so you shouldn't run into any issues with the parking situation.

I would say that if the OP is traveling thru Albuquerque during the first two weekends in October he will be out of luck finding any accommodations. Totally spaced his October time frame.

I'm sorry I didn't mention that in my OP.

I lived in ABQ for 15 years (1980 to 95). It's disturbing to hear it has gone so far downhill. It was a beautiful city and I have many fond memories of it.
My wife and I still go to Santa Fe for the Opera and Indian Market. Tamaya is one of our preferences if we don't stay in the plaza. Tamaya highly recommended. Have dinner at the Prairie Star if it is still called that.

Thank you all for the suggestions. It will either be Tamiya or one of the B&B's in Corrales that we've found online.
It should be an 8.5 hr trip from Nevada so we would get there early enough to enjoy ourselves for a little while at least.
We were just trying to avoid some of the excitement that Halloween night can bring out in some people.

Hi pasquale,
At the risk of complicating things for you further, I thought of another place that might be of interest to you. It's called the Los Poblanos Inn (https://lospoblanos.com/) My neighbor dines there when he has out-of-town company as the restaurant is excellent (but definitely pricey by Albuquerque standards, although probably "normal" by big city standards like Dallas). It is a very unique property and quite lovely in a beautiful part of the metropolitan area - definitely high end. I throw this out for your consideration, in case you want to experience something quite different than a hotel like the Tamaya (and it's closer to your travel route too).
